Hi! I have live/work space for rent on the third floor of a rustic warehouse in Greenpoint. The room is 395 square feet, and is $800 per month plus utilities. The shared space measures 480 square feet, and the roof (with a nice view of the Manhattan skyline) is 1600 square feet. It's not a fancy loft and it is a non-stylish unfinished warehouse above a dusty factory. The room has a hoist, which is convenient if you work with large materials.
This space is for a working artist with steady income. The landlord requires proof of your income to move in, plus first and last month's rent, and a security deposit of $150. Dogs and cats are great as long as they are quiet and well-mannered. There are already two cats in residence.

Requesting your original mail art for display and sale to raise funds
for The Claremont Forum's Prison Library Project, which sends
thousands of books free to inmates throughout the country. Hundreds
of volunteers package books (donated to the Project by our local
community), which are then mailed in response to inmate letters
requesting reading material while incarcerated. For many years, The
Claremont Forum received these requests in hand-illustrated envelopes
created by the prisoners who sent them. It is in this tradition that
we present POSTMARKED as our very appropriate fundraiser.
National Portrait Gallery Announces 2009 Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition
WASHINGTON, DC.-The competition is open to all professional artists age 18 and over who are living and working in the United States. Both emerging and midcareer artists are invited to participate. Each artist may enter one work depicting anyone—a friend, a stranger, a relative, a self-portrait—but it must be the result of the artist's direct encounter with that person. While the human form must be the focus of the work, artists are invited to interpret the concept of portraiture broadly; for example, an entry might not include a face. The work must have been completed after January 1, 2007.
