The Hungarian Multicultural Center (HMC) is currently accepting applications for the Budapest -International Artist/Writer Residencies. The HMC invites interested visual artists, musicians, filmmakers and writers to submit application for its residencies program.

Access to Artistic Excellence encourages and supports artistic
creativity, preserves our diverse cultural heritage, and makes the arts
more widely available in communities throughout the country. While
projects in this category may focus on just one of these areas, the Arts
Endowment recognizes that many of the most effective projects encompass
both artistic excellence and enhanced access.

New Adventures in Sound Art invites artists of all ages and
nationalities to submit works on the theme Ecology: Water, Air, Sound
for consideration in 2009 future programming for the annual Deep
Wireless, Sound Travels, and SOUNDplay festivals, produced by New
Adventures in Sound Art in Toronto, Canada. Artists may submit works
in one or all of the following four categories: 1) Radio Art, 2)
Electroacoustic Music, 3) Videomusic and 4) Installation Art (Note:

Los Angeles World Airports and the Department of Cultural Affairs are seeking arts professionals to curate temporary exhibitions and installations at the Los Angeles (LAX) and LA/Ontario International Airports for the Los Angeles World Airports Arts Exhibition Program. We are interested in providing curators and artists the opportunity to educate, entertain, and amuse the traveling public and visitors to the airports by presenting local and regional artists through temporary exhibitions and installations in domestic and international terminals.

East West Players is now accepting submissions for its national playwriting
competition, PACIFIC CENTURY.
We are looking for unproduced full-length plays and musicals that have Asian
Pacific American themes and/or characters as the primary focus.

POSTMARK DEADLINE FOR MATERIALS IS JUNE 30, 2008!
The works will be judged by a panel of distinguished artists.
Past judges have included David Henry Hwang, Philip Kan Gotanda, Henry Chan,
Gary Shimokawa, and Wakako Yamauchi.
While all genres are welcome, comedies are encouraged.
Each play should require no more than 6-8 actors (for musicals, no more than
African Photo Entrepreneur Programme (APEP) - Call for Applications
The African Photo Entrepreneur Programme is specifically aimed at growing photo entrepreneurs who can compete on the global stage in terms of photo production and market savvy. Launched ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the programme will be run in South Africa in the latter half of 2008 and represents an investment of over R30,000 in each participant.
The aim of the whole programme is to equip participants to become adept at supplying the needs of international publishing, art and product markets. The programme includes the Digital Campus, a photo assignment, and for those who carry out the assignment successfully, a further two day Global Competitiveness Masterclass.

Call for Artists: Memorial Drive: Landscape of Memory Public Art Project
CALGARY.- The City of Calgary Public Art Program, in conjunction with the Utilities and Environmental Protection and Parks departments, is seeking Expressions of Interest (i.e. Request for Qualifications) from artists with demonstrated experience in the field of public art, ability to work collaboratively in a design team environment and work within set budgets and construction schedules.
Memorial Drive is one of Calgary's most cherished corridors in terms of history, location, proximity to the Bow River, and its relationship with both the communities adjacent to the Drive and the larger community of Calgary.
Young Central American photojournalists can compete for prize
June 30 is the deadline to submit entries for a photo competition for young photojournalists from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
Under the theme of "democracy and local development from the youth lens," the competition will accept works from photojournalists under age 30. Participants may send no more than 10 works in JPG format and 300 ppp resolution. First place will win US$1,500; second, US$750; and third, US$500.

MedFilm Festival to highlight intercultural dialogue
November's 14th annual MedFilm Festival in Rome gives film professionals in Europe and the Mediterranean - including Arab countries in North Africa - the opportunity to submit their works and compete for awards. The deadline for submissions is July 30.
MedFilm Festival, launched in 1995, features themes relating to intercultural dialogue, social change in Europe and the relations between the two shores of the Mediterranean. The 2008 Festival will honor the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue.
ArtVenture is launching the inaugural ArtVenture Freedom to Create Prize, which seeks to celebrate artists who have used the arts as a medium to promote and protect human rights. The prize carries a total value of US$ 100,000 and is comprised of three different categories. The prize is designed so that a portion of the prize monies from each category will be given to advocacy groups to further causes highlighted by the winning artists/entries.
