We are pleased to announce that the application for the 2009 edition of ART LA, The New Los Angeles International Contemporary Art Fair, is now available. The deadline to submit materials is August 26, 2008.

Hello, at the beginning of August there will be two art studios opening up in our industrial live/work space in Eagle Rock. Each room is enormous and can be rented for 600 total or preferably, split for an affordable 300 if you are willing to help put up a partition.

The rooms can also be used as living spaces, or a combo live/work space.

About us: at the time of move-in, one electronic musician, an audio specialist and one artist (painter) will be living here. As this is a DIY, industrial warehouse space, it is perfect for artists, art students (close to Pasadena) or musicians.

Hayward Touring: Curatorial Open 2009 is the inaugural exhibition of a series of three annual Hayward Touring curatorial open calls. Hayward Touring in association with a number of regional museums and galleries invites proposals for an innovative exhibition, touring to four UK venues in 2009.

Projects will be accepted through 6 October 2008. For this edition of VIDA 11.0, the prize money has doubled to 80,000 Euros. Since 1979 the Kuenstlerstaette Schloss Bleckede has been seeking to promote young artists who explore innovative positions in the field of contemporary fine art. Today artists, whose work addresses complex aesthetic, cultural or political issues, rarely find the necessary support to realize their ambitious projects. This is why the Kuenstlerstaette Schloss Bleckede wishes to offer these artists the opportunity to develop their work in the course of a residential scholarship of three or six months.

HAUS, a contemporary art gallery in Pasadena, CA, is pleased to announce its First Annual Flash Animation Contest.

This contest is open to anyone with some proficiency with Adobe (Macromedia) Flash software. There is no cost to enter. The winning contestant will receive $500.00 (U.S.) and their animation, with credits, will be used on the HAUS website (currently receiving approximately 300,000 "hits" per year) for HAUS' 6th exhibition year.

Deadline for entry is 6:00pm (PDT) September 1, 2008.

The animations will be judged for their creativity, whimsy and straightforwardness, as well as their conformance with the specified design criteria.
