Dear all,
As you may know, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs launched our Public Artists in Residence (PAIR) program in 2015, and I’ve been co-directing the program with my colleague Shirley Levy ever since. Based on the idea that artists are creative problem solvers, this municipal residency program embeds artists in city government to use creative, collaborative practice to address pressing civic challenges. We’ve done five residencies thus far (some still ongoing), including with the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (Tania Bruguera), Department of Veterans’ Services (Bryan Doerries/Theater of War), and Administration for Children’s Services (The Lost Collective).
