2020 has been a complicated and challenging year for all of us, including Flux Factory. To ensure the safety of our community, we have not invited any new residents since we shut down in March. By adhering to public health guidance about how to be together safely, we are excited to be able to invite a limited number of new Artists-in-Residence to join the Flux Factory family in 2021.

SSB AWAY provides crucial time and space for artists to step away from career demands and public scrutiny. To play with and explore emerging, unfamiliar, messy or mysterious aspects of their practices and open to new ideas, processes, theories, dreams, and artistic experiments. Retreat residences offer artists the agency to leave their habitual surroundings—to rest and inhabit a nourishing space of creative sanctuary where solitude, access to nature, and multivalent privacy abound. SSB offers residencies in Abiquiu, New Mexico and Podere Malabiccia, Tuscany, Italy.

Amant Foundation is launching an Open Call for its NY Residency Program, a newly established international studio residency program beginning in September of 2021, with three iterations—Fall, Winter, and Spring. We host artists at all stages of their careers and across a wide array of disciplines from the visual arts, literature, performance, filmmaking, and cultural theory.

This fellowship offers support for a postdoctoral or senior scholar to conduct research on American art and visual culture (excluding architecture) prior to 1980. The selected candidate will be in residence at the American Academy in Rome for a period of four to six months during the 2021–22 academic year and, while there, will pursue research in an atmosphere conducive to intellectual and artistic freedom, interdisciplinary exchange, and innovation.

ENGAGING ARTISTS (EA) is More Art’s 2-tiered, Fellowship and Residency program for artists seeking to both develop and sustain their public art and socially-engaged practice. The program curriculum encompasses a professional development series, public art commission opportunities, mentorship, and peer networking. The EA Curriculum is valued at $25,000 per participant.
