Free Guesthouse at Art Basel, June 15–19, 2011
Guesthouse Basel, a collaboration between e-flux and Städelschule, Frankfurt, announces a call for applications to fill 10 openings in a five-day residency at Art Basel from June 15th through June 19th, 2011.
As a free, self-organized residency for young artists, curators, writers and gallerists taking place at Messeplatz 1, guest residents will be provided with basic accommodations (hammocks), shared bathrooms, a common workroom, and breakfast. Residents will be expected to help run the guesthouse. The reception area of the guesthouse will be available for public programming developed by the residents.

The Diogene group of artists is promoting the international competition 'Diogene urbanbivouac', open to international artists. The 'Diogene_urbanbivouac' residency program is the result of a joint effort by a group of artists. They share their ideas concerning the relationship between art and society, the role of the artist, and art as a form of knowledge. They also make themselves available to other artists, thus activating a shared collaboration with them.

Los Angeles Opera's Education and Community Programs Department seeks an Audio Technician to assist with our Spring In-School Opera production.
Reporting to the Tour Manager and Technical Director, the Audio Tech (AT) provides and oversees all audio aspects of performances and technical dress rehearsals for the Spring In-School Opera production. The AT is responsible for communications and coordination of all audio needs. Specific duties and requirements include but are not limited to:
1. Maintaining proper inventory of all audio equipment belonging to LA Opera's Education and Community Programs and rentals.
2. Running audio for our Spring In-School Opera program by providing amplification for opera singers and a small orchestra (piano, synthesizers and percussions).

Call for Art: The Aquarium of the Pacific is accepting images via JPEG format to be juried for its upcoming Urban Ocean Festival event. All submitted art pieces should fall under the theme of "Our Urban Ocean," which may include artwork about our ports, human uses of the ocean (i.e. scuba diving, water sports, beach activities), marine life affected by the urban ocean, and/or ocean pollution. The theme of your work should be how you see the urbanized coast and ocean and what it means to you. To be considered, art MUST be appropriate for a family audience.
Please note that if your artwork is accepted, we will require that you are available to be at the Urban Ocean Festival on both Saturday and Sunday, June 18 & 19, 2011.
Just a quick reminder - the Second Quarter 2011 Deadline for the ARC Grants
Program (Artists' Resource for Completion) is coming up on Tuesday, May 3rd,
2011 by 6pm.
ARC grants provide rapid, short-term assistance to individual artists
residing in Los Angeles County who wish to enhance work for a specific,
imminent opportunity that may significantly benefit their careers. Artists
in any discipline are eligible to apply. The applicant must already have
secured an invitation from an established arts organization to present the
proposed work. The start date must be scheduled for presentation within six
months of the application deadline: for the Second Quarter deadline, the
presentation start date must fall between June 15, 2011 and November 3,
2011.
The HARC Foundation, a 21 year-old Los Angeles based 501(c)(3) creative arts organization, is currently seeking Contemporary Dance entries from Emerging Choreographers in Los Angeles County, California. The Choreographer of the winning entry will receive a 2011 HARC Award of $2,500.00, promotional benefits and a public presentation of the winning work during the first quarter of 2012 in Association with Highways Performance Space of Santa Monica, CA and presented at Highways Performance Space, an intimate black box space.
The HARC Foundation’s Pilot Program is a new Division of HARC’s Annual National Creative Arts Competitions and is specifically designed to engage more creative artists in local or regional areas of the U.S.
