Matisse's Dog

Old red belly
is napping
sunning himself
sunny side up
a splash on the patio
white and blue
and gray
he is
snoring I think he
lounges in the nude
in the sunshine
his legs splayed
like leaning fence posts
his eyes like saucers
jet black yet
complicatedly
yellow

EUFRICAM : Europe as seen by African photographers

EUFRICAM : Europe as seen by African photographers and video-artists

I am currently preparing a project that seeks to show Europe through the eyes of its African diaspora. I'm looking for inspired photographers or video-artists from subsaharan African origine that wish to participate in this project by photographing Europe from a personal and African perspective.
Please contact me should you know photographers or video-makers that would wish to take part in this intercultural dialogue, or if you have ideas to further help develop this project.

Meanwhile back in England...

I really enjoyed performing in AMPsterdam. It was the first time I've played in Holland and hope to do it again! The venue was beautiful and I was really feeling the performances by Mavis Klaverweide and Synchdub. Victor Chews performance was inspired and reminded me of a scene from Blue Velvet, one of my favourite films.

Now that I'm back in London, I'm working on a haunted and radical audio walk of Wandsworth and some new music.

Book Diagnostics and Tired after Touring

Q: What happens when you mix a doctor with a writer
A: A book diagnostician.
September 7, 2007

On the plane again, just can’t wait to get on the plane again… After returning from a marvelous month on the sea, on the Northern Coast of Spain, I’m flying again. This time, I’m going to a conference for doctor-writers in Virginia. I’ve been pondering the fusion of these two disciplines lately and this conference is my second one this year with this target audience in mind. The genre of narrative medicine or literary medicine is exploding these days. Dr. Rita Charon of Columbia University, one of the pioneers in the field, describes it as “the narrative competence to recognize, absorb, metabolize, interpret, and be moved by the stories of illness.” Many medical schools now offer elective courses on lit med. It is believed that health care providers can improve the effectiveness of their care through this type of writing, by developing the capacity for attention, reflection, representation, self-care, and affiliation with patients and colleagues. My favorite narrative medicine writers are: Atul Gawande, Audrey Young, Emily Transue, Manoj Jain, Alok Khorana, Darshak Sanghavi, Rick Boyte, Eliza Lo Chin, and Pauline Chen.

Hello AMP !

Hi there AMP-peoples !

My name is Pete Moraites (sometimes creating under the moniker Sebastian Process ). I'm a photo-illustr-anima-composer/writer/VJ/DJ/etc all-around creatively impassioned man. To me, Creativity is as synonymous with God as is Love. After years of studying creative process with and participating in workshops by Tomato, Kelly Morgan's Artist's Way courses, Tony Robbins, Richard Bandler, etc, I'm sometimes known as "the Creative Catalyst" for my abilities to spark and foster the creative spirit.
