Catalytic
Communities/Networks/Participation
We are interested in what is going on in art right now. As
entertainment, critical resistance, or one more commodity fetish, art
can provide an outlet for those of us who dream of revolutions and
utopias. We want to track the diverse ways in which art is currently
being produced with catalysis in mind.
We are looking for projects, proposals, propositions, participatory
actions, performances, behaviors, street acts, acting out art, art
acting out, politicized situations, situations that involve politics,
and anything else considered or not considered under the heading of art.
Art practices that abandon the modernist concept of "pure" art
and the self-sufficient object for something more project-based,

The Loud-speaker is probably the greatest common denominator in all
our lives to-day. Video, multimedia, car radios, mobile phones are
all crafting a new life for sound. In all domains sound is an objet
of research, of reflexion. It is essential to open up creative,
imaginative spaces for sound. And to encourage people to listen.
Christian Leblé, chairman.

of its recognition of artists whose work exploits sound as a medium

Dear Friends,
Starting about a year ago, we have been developing a time bank for the art community. On a practical level, our time/bank is a platform where artists, curators, writers and other people in our field, can exchange time and skills—help each other get things done without using money. In a more idealistic way, the time/bank can become a place where certain types of actions and ideas, that seem to have no value in our market-driven society, can gain a sense of worth.
Time/Bank is now up and running online. We invite you to have a look and see if this is something you would like to get involved in.
Sincerely,
Julieta Aranda & Anton Vidokle
