Little Fish Theatre (LFT) is a program of Shakespeare by the Sea (SBTS). It began in January of 2002 and
offers a year-long line-up of new, classic and contemporary plays. This primarily volunteer-run company is
energetic, imaginative and teeming with positive energy. The theatre space—a converted tow yard—is

Summary of Position:
The Theatre Manager position at LFT is responsible for the day-to-day management and up keep of the
theatre facility, located at 777 Centre Street, San Pedro, CA 90731. This position works with the Producing
Artistic Director, the Associate Artistic Director and the General Manager to effectively maintain and
smoothly run the 65-seat theatre, offering year-round productions to the San Pedro and greater South Bay
community.
Responsibilities:
As the backbone of the theatre's operations, this position:
• Coordinates LFT's use schedule, including rehearsals, load-ins, production changeovers (midweek
to main stage and special events) and strikes
• Supports and coordinates with the Shop Manager
• Coordinates, facilitates and completes concession and supply shopping
• Supports and is present at all the theatre's production technical rehearsals, opening weekends and
special events (11 weeks, during 2011 season) as directed by the General Manager
• Helps coordinate capital improvement projects and facility maintenance at LFT with support from
the General Manager and Artistic Directors
• Maintains LFT's technical theatre equipment (lighting and sound)
• Manages LFT's costume stock
• Supports, coordinates and facilitates loans or rentals of equipment that the theatre makes to others
• Provides facility support for LFT, including weekly cleaning, maintenance and upkeep
Qualifications
Essential Competencies/Skills Required:
• Ability to both manage and support a team in the production of live theatre
• Good perception and ability to quickly and accurately access a situation
• Strategic thinking as it pertains to problem solving and crises management
• Excellent and proven track record of working with volunteers
• Strong customer relationship skills
• Local to Los Angeles South Bay, reside within 15 miles of Little Fish Theatre
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Experience Required
• Minimum 2 years training and experience working in the technical theatre field
• Minimum 2 years management experience running a facility, like a theatre or large store
• Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of customer relationship management databases,
internet and Microsoft Office software programs.
This position is an independent contractor of LFT. The monthly fee will be commensurate with experience
and qualifications.
