Call For Submissions

PATTERNS is a transnational programme in Central and South Eastern Europe (CSEE) that aims to research and understand recent cultural history. PATTERNS initiates, commissions and supports contemporary culture projects in a variety of formats and media. It aims to document, analyse and investigate different aspects of and practices related to the transformation of daily life and culture in CSEE, while accounting for the pluralities that describe the region. The programme focuses on the visual arts and culture that deal with cultural phenomena before 1989 until today, including aspects of popular, marginal and counter culture. It seeks to promote understanding and knowledge of a differently lived past, which can facilitate a shared present and future. In doing so, it takes on the role of a "contemporary witness".

Feminist Interventions - IL
Deadline for submissions: February 1, 2008.
Juried Exhibition, Feminist Interventions, juried by Joanna Gardner-Huggett, professor of art history at DePaul University, Chicago, who specializes in research on the intersection between feminist art and activism.
This exhibition seeks feminist art works by emerging artists (who are in the first five years of their career) that do not privilege gender, but see it in conversation with questions of social justice in the global age. It is particularly interested in featuring art that utilizes a range of feminist strategies to contest issues such as, but not limited to, censorship, pollution, racism, sexual violence and war, as well as creating sites of resistance.

The Award
LEA (Laboratory for Artistic Experimentation) announces the second edition of its prize for the arts. The competition is open to all Latin American artists and its aim is to enable the production of two unique works especially conceived for the "Los Molinos" building of Buenos Aires, a building of historical significance and the future home of the Faena Foundation.
We are looking for artistic projects that interact with the space, the history of the building and/or with the urban context in which it is located, in a manner that is novel, intelligent, and poetic.
