‘Citizen journalists’ invited to enter video contest
Professionals and amateurs alike can enter their videos for the first International Alternative Channel Citizen Journalist Contest. Deadline: January 25.
Participants should each submit a short video, which could be a report or a testimonial, on a topic about which they feel passionate. The video should be at least 90 seconds and no more than 6 minutes long. The total prizes available are worth US$100,000.
Entries should be in English, French or Spanish, with prizes for the top video in each language. Videos will be available at alternativechannel.tv for viewers worldwide, who will nominate their eight favorites in each category. A jury made of professional journalists will choose the winners.
In preparation for 2008, selected artists will be reviewed for a free marketing campaign. Every quarter, over 300 organizations worldwide will be contacted by my foundation. For every organization, there's anywhere between 10 and thousands of employees. That's exposure to
potentially 60,000 people per quarter.
I'll be gearing in on key regions that house leadership that my nonprofit seeks to partner with. In each region, galleries will also be scouted. If selected, galleries interested in the campaign will be exposed to your work.
Galerie SAW Gallery – Call for submissions
Exhibition: Leaving Deep Water
Curator: Minh Nguyen
Deadline: November 30, 2007
In“The Site of Memory,”an essay written by the African American writer Toni Morrison, water, as “flooding,” is linked to the flow of cultural memory contained by images or pictures. Viscerally, water is also considered a purifier in most religions around the world, and is often believed to have spiritual powers. Colourless, tasteless and odourless, this essential substance of all forms of life is both an economic commodity and the source of many sociopolitical contentions throughout historical ages. To explore the expansive metaphorical nature of water, Galerie SAW Gallery invites submissions from artists in Canada and the US, emerging or established, and from culturally diverse communities.
