Female documentary makers from around the world can submit works about women who are making a difference, in their own lives or on the lives of other women, to a contest. Deadline: October 16.
The International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) is sponsoring the awards, which IAWRT President Olya Booyar said will set the scene for the 15th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action on equality and opportunity for women.
Entries must be between 20 and 90 minutes long for television, or 15 to 60 minutes for radio, and have been broadcast during the period November 2007 to October 2009.
Students and members of civil society aged between 18 and 30 from the 56 member countries of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) are encouraged to submit videos to a competition organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain. Deadline: October 2.
Videos should reflect civil society initiatives in OSCE countries, which can include political, social and educational initiatives by non-governmental organizations or other groups and private citizens. Submissions, which can include slideshows with audio in addition to video, should be no longer than three minutes. They must be in English or have English subtitles.
The Centre for Development Communication of DHAN Foundation is pleased to invite filmmakers to take part in the
5th Development Film Festival on `Fight Poverty: Connect and Commit for MDGs' to be held in Chennai, India in September 25-27, 2009.
The film makers are invited to showcase their documentaries, short films and animation films made on any of the following themes:
•Women and Children
•Livelihoods and Food security
•Education
•Health
•Environment
The entries can include the success stories, grassroots initiatives, community efforts, issues and solutions.
An upcoming Development and Climate Film Festival aims to provide a platform for amateur and independent filmmakers from around the world to showcase short films on issues relating to climate change. Submission deadline: October 15.
Entrants should submit a maximum 10-minute movie focusing on issues related to climate change. Selected films will be presented at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen from December 12 to 13.
The competition is organized by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI).

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology seeks applications for a full-time
Assistant Professor of Visual Arts, tenure track position. We seek an
individual with an emerging international reputation to join the faculty of
its Visual Arts Program. We seek a colleague with significant experience,
knowledge and accomplishments in the fields of techno-aesthetic and/or
techno-cultural art practice, especially in the areas of New Media and/or
Media Performance, an artist who has strong skills and experience in
teaching at the college, university or art school academic level. This
appointment will be a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor.

Millay Colony for the Arts Deadline for 2010 Residencies: October 1,
2009

The Millay Colony for the Arts offers one-month residencies to six
visual artists, writers and composers each month between April and
November. Nurturing the work of artists of all ages, from a range of
cultures and communities, and in all stages of their artistic career,
the Colony offers comfortable private rooms, private studio spaces,
and ample time to work in a quiet, pastoral atmosphere.
Our facilities are located on the property where the poet Edna St.
Vincent Millay lived at the height of her literary career. We have a
seven-acre campus with meadows and forest in Austerlitz, New York,
USA, adjacent to the former Millay home and gardens and the exquisite
Harvey Mountain State Forest.
RAW:natural born artists is a local, multi faceted, arts showcase. RAW hosts showcases in 5 cities across Southern California.
RAW features a variety of different art in the realms of film,fashion,music,art,performing art, hair, makeup, models and DJs.
We wanted to invite all of you to showcase with us.
