The William Grant Arts Center is in the process of selection for its 32nd
annual Black Doll Show. This year’s show is “Space is the Place”. We are
interested in Dolls, Paintings, Textile Arts (quilts, clothing, etc..),
Sculpture, and more that explores our futuristic theme.

*History*

The Black doll show was inspired by a doll test conducted by Mamie and
Kenneth Clark. The tests concluded that due to social stigmas, many black
children preferred white dolls over black dolls. This test went on to
become evidence in civil rights law suits. The Clarks became expert
witnesses in Brown vs. Board of education and helped the landmark decision

Community Projects Assistant [JOB] - Arts Council for Long Beach

The Arts Council for Long Beach is seeking a temporary part time Community Projects Assistant to support the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Our Town grant. This position will be 10 hours a week and will begin in early December and run through the summer of 2013 (or otherwise determined). The Community Projects Assistant will be assisting Molly Gardner, Grants and Community Projects Manager; on a number of tasks relating to the Arts Council's A LOT Initiative.
The Arts Council for Long Beach promotes, supports, educates, funds and advocates for arts and culture in Long Beach. Founded in 1976, ACLB is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization governed by a local Board of Directors and managed by a professional staff.

The Spring Exhibition ('Forårsudstillingen') is one of the most important open submission exhibitions in Europe, and has been held annually in Copenhagen since 1857. It originated as an exhibition showing new works by Danish artists and now features participants from many countries. Rich is a Watercolor West Signature Artist and has participated in national and international shows. He is presenting ideas about how he creates his award-winning paintings.
