CVM CALL FOR WORK: ABSTRACT AND EXPERIMENTAL MOVING IMAGES

Center for Visual Music (CVM) invites submissions of specific abstract and experimental film/video/digital moving image work for a major Hollywood Feature Film.

CVM is consulting for a major motion picture project which will include segments of abstract and experimental film. We are seeking imagery of the following kinds (note, these are different categories, your work does not need to qualify in all of these categories, one or more is sufficient).

a) Abstract, non-representational work with mysterious, suggestive elements

The "new" San Francisco Tape Music Center is seeking fixed electroacoustic works (aka tape pieces) for possible performance. Our next fesitval will take place January 26-28, 2007 at ODC Theater in San Francisco.

All pieces are projected over a 16+ speaker system capable of BEAST-style diffusion of stereo works, multi-channel works, and works in B-format ambisonics.

The Fifth Annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) seeks narrative, documentary, music videos, experimental, children's and animated films of any length and format.

In celebration of its fifth anniversary, IFFLA has added a day making it a 6-day long event that runs April 17-22, 2007 at ArcLight Hollywood, a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of Hollywood.

Jury and Audience Choice Prizes will be awarded for Best Feature, Documentary and Short film.

Submission deadline is January 9, 2007.

Viral Video Contest

Perhaps you have heard about all the excitement that viral videos are causing? If not, a quick explanation is in order. Per Wikipedia "the term viral video refers to video clip content which gains widespread popularity through the process of Internet sharing, typically through email or IM messages, blogs and other media
sharing websites". Usually, the videos are fun items that gain interest as they are passed between friends who e-mail them to one another, or because a particularly popular blog refers to them, etc. In recent months, there have been several stories in major media about specific video clips, some of which were intended for commercial purposes, and some which have just become wildly popular

Candidate must demonstrate a strong visual imagination, skills in animation and drawing, and demonstrate a broad understanding of the principles of animation. Ability to communicate and work effectively within an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous teaching experience at the college level and an outstanding record of nationally recognized professional achievement. Desired qualifications also include image-making skills with an emphasis on the figure, character design, illustration, and familiarity with computer applications relevant to art, illustration, 2D and/or 3D animation and knowledge in motion graphics, and animatics.

Post-Postcard 2006 is Outpost´s annual exhibition for small format art designed to offer artists and their public an opportunity for direct exchange. For three days hundreds of editions of artwork will be organized into identical boxes on shelves that run along Outpost´s walls.

Artists are encouraged to submit small format multiples--whether that be a series of hand-made paintings, drawings, sculptural objects, photographs, or a stack of production run postcards. In other words, anything, as long as it fits in the box! Artists of all mediums are eligible to participate.

Celebrating our 6th annual festival, Dance Camera West welcomes dance films with the emphasis on choreography made for the screen, in any dance style or genre. Categories include: screendance, short films, feature, documentary, installation, and interactive dance media.

Dance Camera West's June 2007 festival will feature an international selection of screendance, documentaries and special screening events throughout the month at various Los Angeles venues such as Walt Disney Concert Hall's REDCAT Theatre, the Hammer Museum, and several new venues to be announced.
