The Downtown Art Center Gallery has moved its February Photo show to
April. We are still accepting submissions.
The Downtown Art Center Gallery is a non-profit gallery, so we charge
a $35 admin fee to review portfolios. We keep all images on file and
are committed towards finding opportunities for emerging artists to
be included in future exhibitions.
Theme of this Show: "L.A. Sight"
We expect this show to reveal images of Los Angeles that are uncommon
to the outsider and give insight to what the culture of LA means. We
are not looking for cliché images of L.A.
What you need to submit:
1. CD with jpeg images. Each image needs to be identified with
a title or number. We will not be returning CDs (no SASE, please).

Expanded City
Expanded cinema – Gene Youngblood's term from 1970 – was coined as a name for new forms of artistic experimentation with the language of film. But the term's underlying concept of synesthetic cinema combining esthetic sensitivity with technological innovation is also relevant to transformations in art arising from the infusion of new tools and the exploration of new views of perception.
The California Community Foundation will award $260,000 in Fellowships for Visual Artists to 14 Los Angeles individual artists. Ten fellowships at $20,000 each will be awarded to mid-career artists and four fellowships at $15,000 each will be awarded to emerging artists.
For more than 90 years, CCF has recognized, encouraged and supported the Southern California arts community by funding and nurturing a full range of artistic expressions. The Fellowships for Visual Artists is designed to support local artists in advancing to the next level of professional development. The fellowships draw together the J. Paul Getty Trust Fund for the Visual Arts, the Brody Arts Fund, the Joan Palevsky Endowment for the Future of Los Angeles and other CCF funds.
IDENSITAT+consonni, Call of the project production in the Basque country
The art producer consonni had wanted to organise a public call as another formula for working with artists and the art project IDENSITAT fancied sharing actions with other similar projects with their base in other territories out of Cataluña. So the collaboration arose naturally and consonni proposed the town of Sondika in the province of Bizkaia in Basque country, as the place of intervention.
ID+consonni opens a new international project production call directed towards contemporary artists and creators (individually or collectively) willing to contribute proposals within the sphere of public space
Acceptance of proposals ends on Friday February 13 of 2009, this date being inclusive.

Soliciting unsolicited exhibition proposals
Continuing our annual Unsolicited Proposal Program, we are currently
accepting 600-word, idea-based proposals for evaluation by an international
panel of apexart associates (curators, artists, writers, philosophers).
Submissions are reviewed independently, anonymously and without visual
support material—they are evaluated solely on the strength of the idea. No
mountain too high, no river too deep!
Previous curatorial experience is in no way required, and will not factor
into the selection process.
The two proposals with the highest ratings will be presented at apexart in
the 2009/10 season (September 2009 to August 2010). For those in or outside
