NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN 2099 is a contemporary art festival powered by the collective thinking of WOOLOO.ORG's worldwide users.
NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN 2099 will take place as official part of the cultural program for the United Nations (UN) Conference for Climate Change in Copenhagen, Denmark from December 9th to 18th, 2009.
To challenge the discourse surrounding our future co-existence on this planet - while simultaneously questioning the forms of governance being produced by the UN's nation-based power structure - NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN has adopted the general theme of “2099”.
The festival curators invites artists to submit proposals for products, life styles and everyday interventions, as they could look and function in the year 2099.

Sommeil: A Concert for Sleep
In early April I will be reinterpreting the sleep concert experiment,
first created by Robert Rich ( http://robertrich.com/ ) in 1982, at a
well established gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am doing so
with Rich's permission and guidance. Sleep concerts as presented by
Rich are all night events in which the audience is asked to attend the
concert with a sleeping bag and pillow and to fall asleep while a
slowly unfolding sonic texture evolves over the course of the night
and into the morning. This concert will begin at 10 pm and end at 7
am with tea and breakfast.
Not merely a recreation of Rich's original idea, Sommeil will be a
global reinterpretation of a performance type that addresses one of
The New York-based Open Society Institute recently announced a grant and training opportunity for documentary photographers from Afghanistan, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Mongolia and Pakistan.
Deadline: March 20, 2009.
About 20 selected photographers will receive US$3,500 to produce works
on human rights or social justice issues in their region.
Grantees will also be assigned an internationally recognized
photographer as a mentor to work with in workshops at the beginning and
end of the grant and throughout the grant term. The five day workshops,
to be held in Central Asia and the Caucasus, will cover professional
basics and examine options for the continuation of the participant's
photo project.

About the program

submit their work to The Talking Pictures Festival, which will be held
near Chicago, in the U.S., from May 1 to 3. The deadline to enter is

and the environment. Thus, the organizers are especially interested in
receiving entries related to those themes.
Interested participants may submit documentaries, fiction films, music
videos, experimental films, animation, short/long films, and any other
