Episode 16 – Eroplay

“Eroplay”, the sixteenth episode in the Let Me Be Frank series, is a deep visual, erotic and mind-expanding journey into Frank Moore’s concept of “Eroplay”. Moore coined the word “eroplay” in the 1980s to define the “physical/spiritual” energy that he had been exploring in his work for years. This episode gives the historical context and evolution of this concept/word and an expanded definition of eroplay, with amazing footage spanning years of Frank’s public and private performance work.

The readings in this segment are by sex therapist, author, filmmaker, cable TV talk show host and cultural commentator Dr. Susan Block; and by Fred Hatt, an artist working in many different media, including body art, performance, photography and poetry. Music by Frank Moore, Frank Moore’s Chero Company, Michael LaBash, Vinnie Spit Santino, Tha Archivez, and Extreme Elvis.

Jerome Hill Artist Fellowships support Minnesota or New York City-based artists, early in their careers, who generate and create bold, innovative and risk-taking new work that explores and/or challenges conventional artistic forms.

Fellows receive $50,000 over two consecutive years ($25,000 each year) to support self-determined activities for creation of new work, artistic development and/or professional artistic career development. Fellowship funds support grantees for taking creative risks, exploring new ideas, and pursuing professional and artistic activities.

Since 2009, KASK & Conservatory and Kunstensite vzw have together been developing an exhibition platform on campus: KIOSK. For the last ten years, KIOSK has maintained its own unique exhibition programme, based on the exceptional character of the exhibition space. This is the core activity of KIOSK, its artistic DNA. Flux Factory is seeking artists and creators to participate in our 2020 exhibition Season. Each year Flux Factory hosts four group exhibitions, organized by emerging curators selected from the wide cohort of recent Flux Factory Artists-in-Residence.

Thanks in part to the DCLA Disability Forward Fund, priority will be given to disabled artists or artists whose work addresses issues of disability and accessibility.
