The Board of Mudam invites applications from candidates interested in becoming the next Director of this internationally renowned museum of contemporary art which has become central to the cultural life of Luxembourg.
The museum, designed by the Pritzker-Prize winning architect Ieoh Ming Pei and situated in the historic Parc Draï Eechelen, is home to a collection of contemporary art and is one of the country’s most important cultural institutions since its opening in 2006. Mudam’s ambitious artistic and educational programme, developed for a diverse public, encompasses exhibitions, performance and public programmes supported by research and publishing activities. As an institution of reference for contemporary art, Mudam aims to contribute to a more inclusive, environmentally and socially responsible society using its privileged position as a platform for art and ideas.
Leading the museum and its staff, providing artistic direction for the museum’s programmes and the development of its collection, and ensuring that the museum continues to occupy an important place in the contemporary art scene nationally and internationally are all important aspects of the new Director’s role.
In the new Director, the board seeks an inspirational, dynamic leader with strategic vision, an international reputation for curatorial excellence and with good international networks. They will be capable of inclusive staff management and of the sound management of financial resources. Candidates will need to be able to work constructively with the board, major stakeholders and the staff of the museum.
