Host a minimum of 2 two-hour art workshops per Quarter for a total of approximately 4 hours with a fellow volunteer at one of the playrooms at Children's Hospital or Harbor UCLA- Torrance.
The workshops rotate between playrooms and clinics in order to reach various patient populations at the hospital. For admitted patients as well as their visiting siblings, these workshops provide both a stimulating experience and exposure to a new activity. Upon leaving the hospital, many of these patients are eligible to participate in the Outpatient Coaching Program. Our goal is to provide a creative outlet for these children to develop new skills and focus on something other than their illness.
If interesting in volunteering, please contact Becca at becca [at] coachart [dot] org.
My name is Becca and I work for a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles called CoachArt. We provide free lessons in the arts, music and athletics to kids with chronic and life-threatening illnesses and their siblings. We look for experienced professionals and amateurs in a wide range of activities including photography, art, music, yoga, cooking, creative writing, acting, dancing and more to donate their time and instruction to our students. We pair volunteers with students one-on-one for a ten week session, once a week for approximately one hour. Our goal is to promote normalcy and personal development in kids who truly need it. If you are interested in learning more about how to volunteer with us, please contact me at Becca at coachart dot org.
