51st ANNUAL LOS ANGELES COUNTY HOLIDAY CELEBRATION
The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is seeking County-based youth and adult community and professional choirs, dance companies, and music ensembles to perform in the 51st Annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration. The Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration is a free public event that honors the spirit of many cultures and holiday traditions through music, song and dance and takes place every December 24th at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles. The stage production is also broadcast live on television, and an annual one-hour highlight broadcast is carried nationally on PBS.
The LA Female Playwrights Initiative (www.lafpi.com) is a grassroots organization. It has commissioned a study of the play-producing tends in the LA theater community from 2000-2009. Responses are requested from LA-based playwrights and theater companies by July 30, 2010. Our goal is to find out the number of productions by male/female playwrights put up on LA stages over the last ten years. Please report and let your voice be heard.

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), L.A. Local is
part of a national labor union representing over 70,000 performers in radio,
television, and sound recordings, including actors, dancers, singers, stunt
performers, announcers, radio DJ’s, talk show hosts, and news reporters and
anchors. AFTRA Los Angeles is currently looking for a Member Education
Coordinator.
Under the direction of the Member Education Director, the Member Education
Coordinator assists in the planning and implementation of AFTRA member programs
and events. This position serves as the staff liaison for Local member
committees and outside entities including entertainment guilds and industry
organizations. The Member Education Coordinator will be responsible for
Filmmakers of all genders, nationalities and faiths can submit short films to a festival devoted to showcasing pro-women voices from within the Muslim world. Deadline for submissions: November 1.
Films should present an unfiltered and honest account of women's stories and their struggle for freedom of expression and human rights. Films can be submitted in a variety of categories.
The first-place winner will recieve US$35,000. Cash prizes totaling $31,000 will be awarded to the top three films in each category. Eight honorable mentions will receive an additional $4,000.
Journalists from Asia, Oceania or Polynesia can submit films on global environmental issues to the Tokyo Global Environmental Film Festival. Deadline: September 15.
The festival has been held annually since 1992 with the goal of understanding the environment better through moving images.

The Institut Ramon Llull (IRL)
The Institut Ramon Llull (IRL), a consortium created to promote the Catalan language and culture internationally, has convened a competition to contract a project curator, to prepare an artistic proposal for the Catalonia and Balearic Islands participation in the 54th Venice Visual Arts Biennale 2011, within the Collateral Events programme.
