Video Contest: Progress Is...? (ages 18-25)

As part of its 50th Anniversary Celebrations, OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) has launched a competition for young people around the world to showcase their talent by creating a short video describing their vision of "Progress."

If you are - or know anyone - aged between 18 and 25 years old, and are a film-maker, complete the following phrase..."Progress is," in a video no longer than 3 minutes in length, then post it on YouTube.

Three winners will be chosen by public vote from a short-list selected by our jury, after the competition closing date, 1 March 2011. The winners will then be invited for an all-expenses-paid visit to the OECD Forum in Paris, France, taking place May 2011, for an official screening of their videos.

On behalf of the Tubman-Mahan Art Gallery of the Center for Green Urbanism, Authentic Contemporary Art is inviting artists to submit artwork for Mama Earth.

Open to U.S. artists 18 years and older residing in Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Mama Earth is a visualcelebration of the beauty of the planet Earth through a variety of artistic mediums.

It will serve as the backdrop to the Center for Green Urbanism's first annual Earth Day Celebration in April 2011 and related activities.

Eligible Mediums: original 2-D mediums including mixed media, collage,
photography, painting, and works on paper. Must not exceed $900.

The City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division seeks applications from theater and dance companies based in Los Angeles County for a Residency at the Annenberg Community Beach House at 415 Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica.

The Residency offers a small private office in the historic Marion Davies Guest House and access to selected exterior and interior areas of the Beach House to a performance ensemble for the purpose of rehearsing and presenting a classic play or an original devised work. Although this opportunity is aimed primarily at text-based theater companies, physical theater or dance-theater companies are also invited to propose. Know Your Server attempts to show the audience member that throughout
Los Angeles, one is surrounded by aspiring artists, musicians, and most
importantly, dreamers in disguise. With high rent and living conditions
in the City of Angels, and living in a time with little federal funding
for public works projects to keep artists employed, artists of any
medium must spend most of their time working one or many service jobs.
They are your baristas, your waiters, your sales associates by day; by
night they create art. This project will show one artistic work from 100
different Artists along with a photograph of them in their work

Part-time Handwork/Art teacher for 6th grade

Part-time teaching position in handwork/art.
Environmental Charter Schools is seeking a teacher for our handwork/arts
class. Position will be in the afternoon, four times per week,
Tuesdays through Fridays until June 2011.

Instructor will need experience teaching upper elementary or middle
school students, the ability to independently manage a classroom of
25-30 students and knowledge of practical arts. Students' work in
Handwork/Art supports their study of 6th grade academic standards
(history, science, language arts, and math). Sample activities might
include papyrus-making to support the study of Ancient Egypt, weaving to
support our Ancient Greece unit, or drawing circles free hand and with
