Documentary filmmakers are invited to submit their work to an international contest.
The XI International Documentary Film Festival Flahertiana is named in honor of American filmmaker Robert J. Flaherty, known for his groundbreaking documentary Nanook of the North. The festival will take place in Perm, Russia on October 11-17, 2011.
Entries must reflect the documentary style of Flaherty, be longer than seven minutes and include English subtitles.
There is no application fee and directors of selected movies will be invited to the festival with their three-day stay covered by the event organizers.
There are a four prizes for international contestants plus one for Russians, with prize money totaling RUB500,000, or about USD$17,000.

Artists are invited to apply for the 7th ANNUAL OF MINIATURE ART Online Global Art Annual Competition /Exhibition. All accepted works that pass the first screening will entry into competition and will be exhibited 12 months beginning with the date of the inclusion.
THE FIRST SCREENING

The first screening is conducted by submitting Jpeg [.JPG] image files versions of the submitted works inline or attachment send to info@artaddiction.net. Applicants will be notified by e-mail immediately after reception.

Submitters whose entries pass the first screening are included in competition /exhibition.
MATERIALS TO BE RECEIVED

Promoted by five European publishers, the contest is open to photographers of all nationalities.
The competition requires a substantial, completed and unpublished photographic book project. The winning project is published in book form simultaneously by each publisher in their own country resulting in one of the most extensive cultural collaborations currently existing in Europe.
Now in its 18th year, it is organized by Actes Sud (France), Apeiron (Greece), Dewi Lewis Publishing (Great Britain), Kehrer Verlag (Germany) and Peliti Associati (Italy).
Previous winners include Klavdij Sluban whose book `East to East' brings together photographs made following the route of the Trans-Siberian Railway and Haris Kakarouhas for his photos of Cuba.

U.S. journalists interested in theater and the arts can apply for a fellowship.
The Arts Journalism Institute in Theater and Musical Theater, sponsored by the University of Southern California and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), is an 11-day intensive theater program for journalists. It coincides with the Theater Communications Group National Conference, which brings together more than 1,000 influential theater producers, artists and journalists.
Fellows will take part in sessions on the media industry, meet theater professionals and attend as many as 10 performances or rehearsals.

is organizing an artistic response to the disasters in Japan (see the website for more info).
The event will take place this Friday at the SAT, 1201, Boulevard Saint-Laurent in Montréal.
Around midnight we would open the stage for all Laptop/iPhone musicians to come together
and create a collective sound work, led and inspired by Eldad Tsabary, founder and director of the Concordia Laptop Orkestra (CLOrk).

In celebration of the 2011 TED Conference theme "The Rediscovery of Wonder", which reflects the sense of wonder and exuberance that children naturally possess and enables artists to create their best work, LarkGallery Online and national nonprofit The Dreaming Zebra Foundation have initiated the competition to invite artists worldwide to respond to this theme, and to create and present their artwork for juried competition and exhibition, while raising funds to support Arts Education for students in need throughout the country.

The Consortium of Asian American Theaters and Artists (CAATA) is looking for extremely organized individuals with excellent people skills to help coordinate the conference and festival portions in key positions of the Third National Asian American Theater Conference and Festival from June 16-26, 2011 in Los Angeles.
CAATA is looking for Los Angeles residents with experience in conference or festival organizing, or marketing/pr of Asian American events, or stage management, or technical theater. A knowledge of the Asian American community as well as a passion for Asian American theater is helpful. The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with a calm demeanor is required. There is some pay. Some positions start immediately.
