The Finnish Academy of Fine Arts is an international fine arts university and the only one of its kind in Finland. It provides high quality education in moving image, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and site and situation specific arts. It is also a pioneer in artistic research. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Open Call for Media Arts
NewTown will appropriate a two block length of South Lake Street in Pasadena and an area in Los Angeles that remains to be determined, each for one night presentations of a ”Pop-up” festival of media arts. There will be:
outdoor, sit-down space(s) for single screen projections with sound;
rear-projection sites in empty store fronts, silent;
space may also be available for media installations.

Late May, 2011
Proposal Deadline:
April 8, 2011. Submissions postmarked after that date will not be considered. Early submission is encouraged.

Punto y Raya Festival explores the ultimate synthesis of the form·movement duality in different spheres of human endeavour. Due to the simplicity of its criteria, it seeks to reveal the limitations and achievements of our representation systems using abstraction's prime matter.
This entry call is addressed to audiovisual pieces built up entirely from dots and lines. No representation whatsoever, just dots and lines as ends in themselves!

: The films must be made entirely with dots and lines avoiding representation.
:You can use any kind of illustration, optic and animation techniques. From the pen to the stylus, from the analogical·dot to the digital·pixel.

The Stone Summer Theory Institute is an intensive week of seminars, lectures, and panel discussions, which will be published as a series of books involving over 300 scholars. It is held each July in Chicago, organized by James Elkins. Fellows are not expected to present papers, but are asked to do up to 1,500 pages of advance readings for the seminars.

DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Program Director, the Technical Coordinator (TC) provides and oversees all technical aspects of performances and staged readings, which include but are not limited to: lights, audio, multimedia, chairs, cables, stands, furniture, set pieces, and props. The TC is responsible for communication and coordination of technical production.
