Kids love to draw and paint on pretty much every surface they can get their hands on. So why not let them make their very own paper to house their free flowing artistic talents?

In this fun and easy class, students will work together with the instructor Heather Bowling to make small batches of paper from recycles materials. The kids will get to see all of the steps involved in making paper and learn a lot of cool tricks to use when making paper in the future. Students will also get to practice making all on already made paper to see how it is different than paper bought in the store.

In this three dimensional mosaic class, students will create beautiful decorative planter using glass and ceramic tile for indoor or outdoor use. Base your pattern off your outdoor décor or create a unique piece to inspire a new spring hobby.

This introductory level course requires no previous artistic or mosaic experience. However all skills levels are welcome to explore and experience this amazing medium! Students are encouraged to bring images and other inspirations to use in their class.

Barbed Magazine is pleased to announce its latest call for submissions to be considered for issue #04, debuting in the city of Detroit, Michigan.

Barbed Magazine explores new works and artists with special emphasis on those working on relational and confessional art, in mixed media, documentation, process, and residual art. Artists are encouraged to submit works that have not been published before and which have been produced within the last two years. Freewaves is launching a new series called Dis…Miss, a multi-genre, public visual art experience, with media and performing arts components, addressing fantasies and realities of gender polarization in local and mass media. The series features commissioned works from 20 outstanding L.A. visual artists. Launching with 25 video pieces, works also include postcards, posters, signage, billboards, and performances. Through this initiative, Freewaves hopes to open new avenues of thought and stimulate dialogue on inter-gender relationships.
