An International Documentary Film Festival, known as DOCSDF and scheduled for October 15 to 24 in Mexico City, is inviting filmmakers, producers and directors to submit their best works by May 15.

This year's festival has nine categories: best international documentary; best Iberoamerican documentary; best Mexican documentary; best TV documentary; best international short documentary; best Mexican short documentary; best photography; best Mexican documentary on education; and best documentary on the environment.

The festival will also feature the `DOCSDF Challenge,' a competition open to the general public. For the challenge, participants must send a proposal to produce a 10-minute documentary about a place, character, story or event that takes place in Mexico City. Five selected proposals will receive cameras and postproduction equipment to be used in 100 hours. The challenge will award a people's prize and a jury prize.
