TruXtop and Walt Hall have created a really great group show. 50 emerging and established artists were given the same theme and piece of wood to create their own versions on "Flags". The result is a big ole melting pot of fun!
In the words of the infamous Lemi (Moterhead) "Stick it up the flagpole and see who salutes it". I for one salute!

An evening where the inspiration of tradition and the vision for tomorrow comprise a boisterous loving tribute to two Biblical and still powerful metaphors with universal appeal by a supremely accomplished Israeli artist.
Through Hoops and fires and obstacle courses...
Through cuts and pains and unbeaten paths...
The falling and dusting off builds character and experience.
So tired of crashes and angered by folly...
So pissed at adversity and challenged to breath...
I get up and exhale real slow for a moment.
I won't let this shit hold my mind to the pavement!
My body is affected and my heart skips like records...
My relationships vibrate like a train before derailing...
My world revolves slow while support comes to meet me...
I am not without, but the process frustrates me.
I inhale the negative and flap once again!

I've never before made a blog entry, and I'm very tired now and at the Donnell Library computer because I don't have my own at home (can you believe it? Well, why not believe it, since you don't know me, unless of course you do). I can natter on quite easily without dealing with anything of substance. There is something art-related, though: I just returned from the Met. Saw the great "One of a Kind" show and an equally good photo show (something about "Hidden" something or other). Opened the book on "Glitter and Doom" and focused on the horribly, unbelievably disfigured man, head a virtu

Later is a distraction.
Now... I am focused on now.
Now... I am looking at the future and I can't stop thinking about what I should be doing now to make sure it arrives the way I want it to.
Distracted by the later and filled with later nows.
Like waiting for Daddy to come home and awaiting a spanking...
Can I bend time to fast forward the now to later after the spanking or maybe I can bend it back and not do what I did to get in trouble?
The process is the path and the path cannot be tamed, nor can it be bent. Once you jump from the plane you better have a parachute that works. It should have been tested. It should work. If it does not work... then it wasn't going to work. Whatever the outcome... Now is out of your or my control. Plans are great, but control is a fantasy.
www.ideagems.com is always looking for stories and artwork. It's a good way to spread your talents and build up your portfolio. Now, just pray to all the gods, goddesses, and demi-gods that we get the big-ass grant we've applied for and we'll actually be able to pay contributing authors and artists for their work! Until then we welcome any and all generous contributions made in the name of artistic and literary expression.
I haven't posted on AMP in a looooooong while. Why? Because I have hungry brainchildren to feed which means spending time and energy working any job that comes along. These days, I spend 12 hours a day in a cab. Am I to be the female Travis Bickell? Not likely. But living in Stephen King country, one never knows.
At least one of my creative progeny has become fully grown and published now. My first novel, "The Spoiler" (available on Lulu.com) is the beginning of a family of books in the series, "Stranger Than Fiction." We'll see if after years of nurturing and cultivating if these creations will finally earn their keep and support their dear ol' mother of invention.
