Media That Matters Film Festival calls for submissions
Filmmakers from around the world who focus on social issues may
submit their best works to The Media That Matters Film Festival.
Deadline: January 9.
The festival highlights short films on the most important topics of
the day for local, global, and online communities with the goal of
engaging audiences and inspiring them to take action.
Entries must be no longer than 12 minutes. Possible themes include:
Media Literacy, Human Rights, Elections & Democracy, Sustainability &
the Environment, LGBTQ & Sexual Identity, Youth Activism and Racial
Justice.
The festival will select 12 finalists, who will receive US$1,000 each
to assist them in future filmmaking efforts.
Film Festival calls on independent filmakers to submit works on human
rights
Documentary and filmmakers worlwide, whose work focuses on human
rights, are invited to the 11th International Film Festival DerHumALC
to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in May and June, 2009. Deadline
for submissions: December 15.
The Festival was created to provide a forum for debate and reflection
about human rights issues. According to the event's organizers,
Instituto Multimedia DerHumALC, "through the screenings of artistic
interpretations of independently produced films and videos, the event
aims to provide a lens to view and consider human rights issues from
around the globe."

Celebrating our 8th annual dance film festival, Dance Camera West
welcomes dance media in any dance style or genre.
Categories include: screendance, experimental movement based film,
short films, features, documentary, installations, and
interactive dance media. The 2009 festival will feature Latin American
artists in a panel discussion and special screening event.
Dance Camera West’s June 2009 festival will feature an international
selection of dance media and special screening events
throughout the month at prominent Los Angeles venues such as Walt
Disney Concert Hall’s REDCAT Theatre, the Hammer Museum,
Boston Court Performing Arts Center seeks local applicants for its
2009 "ARTTalk." ARTTalk is part of Pasadena ARTWeekend.
"ARTTalk" is scheduled to take place in the Marjorie Branson
Performance Space at Boston Court on Saturday, March 14th, 2009 from
11:00am until 5:00pm. Participants will be allotted one half hour to
perform a piece that focuses on Words and Communication. All
performances must be acoustical in nature. Boston Court will provide
general lighting and no rehearsal time is allotted.
Previous performance genres include poetry, storytelling, singing, and
theatrical performances. Participants will be provided a small

The Provincetown Community Compact, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2009
residency program for C-Scape & Fowler Dune Shacks. This novel program,
which is a collaboration with the Cape Cod National Seashore, offers one and
three week residencies for artists and the general public beginning in April
2009. A $500 fellowship and a three-week summer residency will be offered
to one visual artist, and two one-week residencies for writers. No fee.
