In 1985, the City of Paris gave Pontus Hulten the task of creating a postgraduate school for research in contemporary art. Its antecendents were to be the Weimer Bauhaus School and Black Mountain College, and it was meant to function as an alternative to Paris's École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts.

The application period for 2014 fellowships runs until the 29th of June 2013 (date of postmark).

Preconditions

The conditions for all fellowships with the exception of the curator fellowship are a completed course of study in art (M.F.A. or comparable degree) and two to three years (depending on the respective fellowship) of continuous artistic work after the conclusion of the studies until the beginning of the fellowship. Applications are also possible for autodidacts distinguished by special artistic achievements, as documented by exhibitions and prizes.

The L.A. Dance Summit is a special one-day convening open to a broad
cross-section of the dance community, including individual artists,
companies, presenters, teachers (and students), funders,
therapeutic/conditioning specialists, and dance service providers. The
event provides a "big tent" opportunity for participants to discuss larger
trends and issues affecting local dance, to obtain practical takeaways from
afternoon workshops and information resources, and to connect with the dance
and dance-related colleagues.

To foster artistic dialog and interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge of German or English is expected.
