'Green' Art Museum to Open in Buffalo, NY
BUFFALO, NY.- When the Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State
College opens to the public Nov. 22, it is expected to be the first
art museum in New York State to be certified by the Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program of the U.S. Green
Building Council.
Designed by the award-winning international firm Gwathmey Siegel and
Associates Architects, the $33 million art center fronts Buffalo's
historic museum district. It is one of the largest regional art
museums in the country and is slated for LEED silver certification.
Film Festival calls on independent filmakers to submit works on human
rights
Documentary and filmmakers worlwide, whose work focuses on human
rights, are invited to the 11th International Film Festival DerHumALC
to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in May and June, 2009. Deadline
for submissions: December 15.
The Festival was created to provide a forum for debate and reflection
about human rights issues. According to the event's organizers,
Instituto Multimedia DerHumALC, "through the screenings of artistic
interpretations of independently produced films and videos, the event
aims to provide a lens to view and consider human rights issues from
around the globe."
In addition to the film screening, the Festival will contain panel

Project
Collage Dance Theatre will be in residence at the urban office complex 7+FIG
in downtown Los Angeles, January 5-19, 2009. During this period company
artists and apprentices will explore themes of place, location and how they
intersect with the body and the self to define who we are. We will examine
the question of what does it mean to "know our place"? Taking inspiration
Boston Court Performing Arts Center seeks local applicants for its
2009 "ARTTalk." ARTTalk is part of Pasadena ARTWeekend.
"ARTTalk" is scheduled to take place in the Marjorie Branson
Performance Space at Boston Court on Saturday, March 14th, 2009 from
11:00am until 5:00pm. Participants will be allotted one half hour to
perform a piece that focuses on Words and Communication. All
performances must be acoustical in nature. Boston Court will provide
general lighting and no rehearsal time is allotted.
Previous performance genres include poetry, storytelling, singing, and
theatrical performances. Participants will be provided a small
