The bastardized Latin in the title MEMENTO MORI AD ASTRA (PIRANESI-DYSON METAPHOR) is meant to roughly translate to "remember your mortality - to the stars!"
The idea of contrasting the backward-looking 18th century Italian etcher Giovanni Piranesi with the forward-looking pioneer of astrophysics Freeman Dyson is my nod to the concept of the Greek Titans Epimetheus and his brother Prometheus (with their names literally translating as backward-thought and forward-thought). The piece was done for an exhibit titled 'The History of the Future.'
