Latin American photographers and filmmakers are invited to submit their
best works to "Documentales y Fotografías de América Latina," an
exhibit organized by Asociación ProDocumentales Cine y TV, based in
Spain.
The event is scheduled to take place on April 18 in Albacete, Spain.
Selected entries will be featured during the event.
The documentaries must be no longer than 50 minutes, in DVD format,
with subtitles in Spanish (if produced in another language), and
produced between 2007 and 2009. The organizers also recommend sending
extra copies with subtitles in English, French or Portuguese.
Photos must be in color or black and white, 30x40 centimeters or 30x30
centimeters (for square negatives), and produced between 2007 and 2009.
Up to five photos can be submitted.
Worldwide photo competition to focus on new ways to portray gender
Photojournalists and amateur photographers can now submit images
that "challenge conventional understanding of `femininity'
and `masculinity' and help to break the mold of male-female `divide'"
to a photo competition.
The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) is hosting
the photographic competition, "Portraying Gender." Winners will be
awarded cash prizes that range from US$500 (first prize) to US$200.
The competition is an effort of WACC in collaboration with the online
photo service Flickr. To be submitted, photos must be uploaded on
Flickr.

Short-story contest calls for writers from across the world
Tell your story to the world by participating in a monthly Global Short
Story Competition, which is designed to attract writers worldwide.
Deadline: end of each month.
Entries on any theme must be no more than 2,000 words and be written in
English. There is a UK £5 (about US$7.50) entry fee per story. Each
month a winning story receives a cash prize of UK £100 (about US $150)
and is published on the contest's Web site. At the end of 12 months,
each winner will be considered for an annual cash prize.
The contest is supported by the Darlington Arts Centre in England.
