Call for participation for DIAGONAL install-action project.

In our environment the vertical and horizontal lines are pulsating in a
continuous and stable rhythm. The diagonal body is an attempt to brake this
monotony, to create tension, to be between start and stop.

Anybody

How to make it?
Search a place where your diagonal fits well. Lean forward till your body
shape will look like a diagonal and make a photo with the help of a remote
control, timer or with help of somebody. Other way of making this temporal
diagonal posture can be ok.

Terms
I will publish only those images, which are not off topic, doesn’t contain
pornographic material.

Deadline: Wednesday, September 1st by 6pm

Eligibility: The call is open to all emerging artists working in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Ventura and San Bernardino counties. All forms of painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital and installation art are eligible. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. All submitted art pieces should fall under the theme of "Our Urban Ocean," so pieces having to do with our ports, human uses of the ocean (i.e. scuba diving, water sports, beach activities), marine life affected by the urban ocean, and/or ocean pollution. The theme of your work should be how you see the urbanized coast and ocean and what it means to you.

For 16 days and nights in October 2011, the fifth World Festival of Sacred Music will fill L.A.'s major theaters, churches, synagogues, temples and outdoor venues with more than 25 performances by artists representing the sacred music and dance traditions of our city.

The Arts Council for Long Beach (Arts Council) is seeking proposals for
temporary exhibitions and
site-specific installations for a new visual art gallery in downtown Long
Beach. Artists, curators, directors,
as well as gallery, museum and public art professionals are invited to
apply. In addition, non-profit,
visual arts organizations may explore the use of the gallery as a satellite,
or primary exhibition space.

Established in 1981, the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency¹s Percent for
Public Art Policy requires developers to contribute
a percentage of project costs to the creation of public art. In fulfillment
of their obligation, Lyon Communities has elected to
create a visual art gallery for their new development: gallery421 in
downtown Long Beach.

The Los Angeles Bi Task Force (LABTF) has a CALL-OUT for any bi/fluid/pansexual men and women with creative talent! We are organizing a mini Bi Arts Fest on Thursday, September 23rd at 7:30pm for Celebrate Bisexuality Day Weekend. This will be at the Village @ Ed Gould Plaza at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center.

Los Angeles Bi Task Force (LABTF)

India's Jaipur International Film Festival seeks film submissions in feature, short, documentary and animation categories. Deadline: October 31.

In 2010, JIFF screened 87 movies (out of 350 submissions) and presented 12 awards. The festival includes a red carpet film festival award ceremony, galas, fashion shows and screenings. A workshop on cinema in Jaipur will run in advance of the festival, from October 12 to 16.

A photo competition seeks works related to people, water, technology and the environment. Residents of the European Union and the 78 member states of the Cotonou Agreement can apply. Deadline: October 19.

Winners will compete for prizes up to EU€5,000 (US$6,400) to be awarded at the "People's Choice Photo on People, Water and ICTs" seminar sponsored by the ACP-EU Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) in Pretoria, South Africa.

Authentic Contemporary Art (ACA), a five year old virtual and community-based resource for contemporary art by emerging artists announces a new partnership with the Center for Green Urbanism to showcase exhibitions of contemporary art. The Center is a new business incubator providing office space for small to mid-size businesses and start-ups interested in locating in Ward 7 in far northeast Washington, DC. The Center is located at 3938 Benning Road NE on the edge of Fort Mahan Park, a national park site and gateway to the Fort Circle Park Trail. The building is located directly across the street from the new Benning Road Library and is walking distance from the Minnesota Avenue metro stop on the orange line.

On September 21, 2010, we will be launching the largest single day new college student volunteer event in the country. We are looking for muralists to help us design art in early September for some local schools and shelters to be painted by our students.
