Ventura Spring ArtWalk Weekend Applications Now Available
The City of Ventura Cultural Affairs Division invites artists and merchants to apply by February 1st or February 12 to participate in the Spring ArtWalk Weekend-Saturday and Sunday, April 25 & 26, 2009 in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District.
A new participant orientation will be held on Wednesday January 14th at 7 pm in the City Hall Atrium; 501 Poli Street - 1st floor. Assistance will be available for interested participants and with matching up artists and merchants who apply by February 1st. All other applications must be in by February 12th. General questions on participating and instructions on filling out the application will be discussed, along with innovative ideas to market ArtWalk exhibits to draw in patrons.
Cornerstone Theater Company is now seeking applications for the annual
Altvater Fellowship.
Cornerstone's Altvater Fellowship Program provides educational and
professional development to individuals interested in theater and
community. Altvater Fellows explore a wide range of experiences in the
planning and creation of a Cornerstone production. Over an eight-week
residency, Fellows work full-time with Cornerstone's Ensemble and
Staff on many aspects of current community collaborations as well as
immersion in the unique culture of the company.
This year Cornerstone offers one Altvater Fellowship that will focus
on all aspects of the 2009 Cornerstone Institute Summer Residency with
a production and/or producing focus. Applications are available now
Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in Las Vegas is seeking proposals for:
Off the Strip: 2 Weeks of Performance & Video Art: 04/02 - 04/17 2009

We welcome all artists or artist teams working in performance, situational aesthetics,
creative movement, experimental video and other new media. The event will take place at
CAC gallery as well as other venues located in historic downtown Las Vegas. Artist or artist
teams are asked to challenge viewers with works that are new, progressive and that fall
outside the traditional boundaries of established genres of the visual, theatre, dance,
music, experimental film, etc. We are interested in work that represents a high level of
20th Anniversary Juried Show - Contemporary Arts Center, Las Vegas
Prizes: First $2,000.00 | Second $500.00 | Third $300
Submission Deadline: Tuesday, January 27th 2009
All mailed in submissions have to include check for submission fee and appropriate
postage for return shipping to be eligible.

One of the most popular ongoing projects that WCAD has been involved
in has been THE PAPERBOATS.
MAKE A PAPERBOAT WITH A MESSAGE OF HOPE IN IT

Our modern twist on this ancient craft has continued to develop and last year saw an exhibition at The Three Harbours Arts Festival, where a further 2000 paperboats were produced.
We now now have a small touring exhibition of this growing project which is at present at Castleview Primary School, Craigmillar for this years WCAD.

W.A.G.E. has been formed because we, as visual + performance artists and independent curators, provide a work force.
Documentaries on millenium development goals to be awarded
A compeition will award the best documentaries on one of the Millennium
Development Goals and its relation to Arab women. Deadline: March 31,
2009.
The Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR) and the
International Planned Parenthood Federation, Regional Office for the
Arab world, launched the competition, which is open to Arab
documentarians.
Submissions should be sent in digital format and be between 11 and 27
minutes long. First and second place winners will receive US$2,500 and
US$2,000, respectively, in May 2009.
