Where's the art work? The residency and its location is the work. The group is the work. The differences between the group is the work. But the group is looking somewhere else altogether. And that somewhere else - certainly, not here - must be where art is really about to happen.
East West Players is pleased to announce its latest Playwrighting
Competition: FACE OF THE FUTURE. This time around we are particularly
looking for plays that explore the reality of multicultural America from
an Asian American perspective. For instance, subject matter might
include (but need not be limited to) biracial or multiracial identity,
clashes or collaborations between cultures, or
international/transnational storylines.
The prizes are as follows:
$5000 First Place
$2500 Second Place
$1000 Third Place
The First, Second and Third Place winners will all receive readings by
EWP. All winners will be considered for workshop and/or production; EWP
must have the first option to produce.
Submission period: May 2, 2011 to August 31, 2011
Throughout history, creative works by women have been devalued,
dismissed, and even buried. In an attempt to keep women’s work
visible, Craftswoman House seeks artworks that make a direct reference
to, or were inspired by, second-wave feminist art for inclusion in a
November-December 2011 group exhibition. We are also seeking video and
performance works for an event in early December.
Please send images or links of up to five works, or a link to video or
performance, a short statement on the relationship between your work
and second-wave feminist art, and a CV to craftswomanhouse@gmail.com
with Stemma as the subject. For further information about Craftswoman
House, go to craftswomanhouse.com or craftswomanhouse.blogspot.com.
