The Fowler begins 2012 with two exciting opportunities. We're looking for dynamic, creative people to fill the following positions:

The Fowler Museum at UCLA - a beloved Los Angeles institution of international repute with a renowned collection of art and objects - explores global arts and cultures with an emphasis on cutting-edge contemporary art. Nestled in the heart of UCLA's beautiful north campus, the Fowler enhances understanding and appreciation of the diverse peoples, cultures, and religions of the world through acclaimed exhibitions, public programs, and publications.

Curator of Public Programs

The Kenneth A. Picerne Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2012 Artist Outreach Project! The Foundation will award up to 20 artists $12,000 each for a one-year grant to provide educational, mentoring, and/or therapeutic arts experiences for people of any age group who lack opportunities to engage in meaningful arts programs. For the application, artists are asked to outline a plan to provide arts programming for the underserved group they would like to serve at a nonprofit they intend to collaborate with. Visual, literary, and performing artists 55 years old and older who live in North San Diego County or Orange County are eligible to apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2012.

Triple Canopy announces its third annual call for proposals by artists and writers

Triple Canopy, the online publication and editorial collective based in New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin, is pleased to announce its third annual call for proposals. Commissions will be considered under six project areas and published in the course of the next year. Artistic, editorial, and technical staff will work closely with contributors as they develop the best approach to realizing their projects on the Web, from the conceptual phase to the design and technological production. Recipients receive:

• Three to six months of artistic, editorial, and technical support
• Honorarium of up to 300 USD as well as material costs

Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1996 that transforms the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities.

We have initiated a unique international program called Arts xChange that will bring together 16 Hutu and Tutsi youth in Rwanda with 16 rival Bloods and Crips in Los Angeles through our Introduction to Art Workshop. Teams of youth will be meeting online weekly for 15-18 weeks to discuss issues of violence, poverty, conflict and acceptance. Create Now will provide them with materials to create drawings, paintings, sculptures and videos. The program will culminate with art exhibitions in Kigali, Rwanda and an art gallery in Beverly Hills.

Project:
Without being too specific, I am looking to put on a performance at the opening of the solo exhibition that will be a maximum of 30 minutes, time yet to be determined. I need a female opera singer performing very aggressive sounding lyrics and then two dancers will respond to her. The performers will be making a drawing at the same time the singer is performing. They will be dancing on a bed of dusted charcoal resting on a canvas, which will be a large component to the performance.

Compensation:
There is a honorarium.

Hope University, a fine arts program for adults with developmental disabilities, is seeking a person with a strong visual art background to teach art. We work with colored pencils, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, collage, printmaking, mosaic, and papier mache. We also create fine crafts. Ideal candidate has strengths in drawing, painting and printmaking; may have an artistic specialty of their own to offer our clients; is compassionate and understanding; can bring out the best in an artist with disabilities. Experience working with people with disabilities is not required, but is a definite plus. This may be a part-time or full-time position, rate of pay commensurate with experience. The Getty Foundation is pleased to announce that applications for 2012
Multicultural Undergraduate Internship (MUI) grants to museums and
visual arts
organizations are available. Since its inception in 1993, the MUI
program has
supported more than 2,500 internships in Los Angeles-area museums and
visual
arts organizations. The program aims to increase diversity in the
professions
related to the visual arts, and to provide programmatic support for
local
organizations.

The internships are intended specifically for outstanding students who
are
members of groups currently underrepresented in the museum and visual
arts
professions: individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic,

OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPETITION:

Studio Forum (Annecy) and Gràcia Territori Sonor (Barcelona) in collaboration with the Fundazione Russolo-Pratella de Varèse (Italia), once again announce the Luigi Russolo-Rossana Maggia competition now in its thirty-second edition (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prix_Russolo) With the goal of fomenting the creation of experimental and electroacoustic music, especially that which is based on the sonic semantics of Luigi Russolo.
The Russian label Monochromevision (Moscow) will manufacture the CD that will contain the awarded pieces.
