Artist Outreach Project - grants for artist outreach

The Kenneth A. Picerne Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2012 Artist Outreach Project! The Foundation will award up to 20 artists $12,000 each for a one-year grant to provide educational, mentoring, and/or therapeutic arts experiences for people of any age group who lack opportunities to engage in meaningful arts programs. For the application, artists are asked to outline a plan to provide arts programming for the underserved group they would like to serve at a nonprofit they intend to collaborate with. Visual, literary, and performing artists 55 years old and older who live in North San Diego County or Orange County are eligible to apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2012.

Commissions will be considered under six project areas and published in the course of the next year. Artistic, editorial, and technical staff will work closely with contributors as they develop the best approach to realizing their projects on the Web, from the conceptual phase to the design and technological production. Artist needed for International Exchange Program in South LA

Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1996 that transforms the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities.

We have initiated a unique international program called Arts xChange that will bring together 16 Hutu and Tutsi youth in Rwanda with 16 rival Bloods and Crips in Los Angeles through our Introduction to Art Workshop. Teams of youth will be meeting online weekly for 15-18 weeks to discuss issues of violence, poverty, conflict and acceptance. Create Now will provide them with materials to create drawings, paintings, sculptures and videos. The program will culminate with art exhibitions in Kigali, Rwanda and an art gallery in Beverly Hills.

Opera Singer Needed for Performance at Pasadena Armory: Saturday, 2/11/2012

Project:
Without being too specific, I am looking to put on a performance at the opening of the solo exhibition that will be a maximum of 30 minutes, time yet to be determined. I need a female opera singer performing very aggressive sounding lyrics and then two dancers will respond to her. The performers will be making a drawing at the same time the singer is performing. They will be dancing on a bed of dusted charcoal resting on a canvas, which will be a large component to the performance.

There is a honorarium.

We work with colored pencils, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, collage, printmaking, mosaic, and papier mache. We also create fine crafts. Ideal candidate has strengths in drawing, painting and printmaking; may have an artistic specialty of their own to offer our clients; is compassionate and understanding; can bring out the best in an artist with disabilities. Experience working with people with disabilities is not required, but is a definite plus. This may be a part-time or full-time position, rate of pay commensurate with experience. The Getty Foundation is pleased to announce that applications for 2012
Multicultural Undergraduate Internship (MUI) grants to museums and
visual arts
organizations are available. Since its inception in 1993, the MUI
program has
supported more than 2,500 internships in Los Angeles-area museums and
visual
arts organizations. The program aims to increase diversity in the
professions
related to the visual arts, and to provide programmatic support for
local
organizations.

The internships are intended specifically for outstanding students who
are
members of groups currently underrepresented in the museum and visual
arts
professions: individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic,

American and Pacific Islander descent.

The Russian label Monochromevision (Moscow) will manufacture the CD that will contain the awarded pieces.
