Día de los Muertos Altar Contest Display 2012

MOLAA's Altar Contest is a juried display at the Museum of Latin American Art from Saturday, October 27 and during MOLAA's Dia de los Muertos Festival, on Sunday, October 28th, 2012 from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. To enter, complete the registration form. Deadline: Sunday, October 1, 2012 at 5 p.m. Entries must be submitted via fax, e-mail or in person during regular museum business hours. For a copy of the entry form, email education@molaa.org or stop by the museum Frontdesk. Contact the Education Department at 562-216-4108 with any questions.

Box Populi: The Art of the Protest
October 1, 2012-November 16,2012

Box Populi: The Art of the Protest plays with the phrase Vox Populi,
which means Òvoice of the people.Ó In this spirit, (u)ntitled: The
Wignall Museum Curatorial Club would like to invite you to participate
in an exhibition open to anyone using the most basic materials -
cardboard and text. Cardboard protest signs have been photographed and
shared through the news and social media websites such as Facebook and
Tumbler and their messages have become part of the popular culture.
Protest signs are portable, disposable, and frequently replicated.

Casa 0101 is looking for LGBTQ-minded visual artists interested in
showcasing their work in the theater's gallery space for the run of
Brown and Out 2 – a short play festival celebrating the Latino/a
LGBTQ experience.

We are looking to showcase about 4-5 pieces from 5 different
LGBTQ-minded artists. The show runs from September 28-October 21.

Native Voices at the Autry is the nation's premier Equity theatre
company dedicated to the development and production of new works for the
stage by Native American, Alaska Native, and First Nations artists. We

2013 Playwrights Retreat and Festival of New Plays
The retreat/festival brings artists together from across the globe to

The Opportunity
The Banff Centre is looking for a dynamic Director, Visual Arts and Walter
Phillips Gallery to envision, lead and manage the implementation of all
Visual Arts programming at The Banff Centre, including the studio residency
program, Walter Phillips Gallery, and the Banff International Curatorial
Institute.

Position Objectives
. Leads the Visual Arts department, envisioning a compelling future
for programs that meets the ambitions laid out in the overall strategic plan
of The Banff Centre

Ame Gilbert is seeking muralist/graffiti artists, comic book
artists etc. of Mexican descent to participate in a Oaxacan pig-roast fiesta
following a day-long conference of food writers/bloggers and media artists
in upstate NY on 9/15. While the conferences focus is on "old media, new
media and the false divide," we'll use the story of Mexican migration in the
Hudson Valley, and the Mexican contribution to agriculture and the food
industry. We have a side of a barn to paint to tell this rich story, as well
as walls to fill, music to make, poetry to speak and a zine to produce that
highlights the amazing contributors at the conference and fiesta. For more
