Little by little New year will be started in Iran.Almost 3 weeks next we will have New year. it is20th march.in this topic I would like to explain about it.well NORUZ , or New year, is the celebration of spring equinox.it is the most cherished of all the Iranian festivals and is celebrated by all. This occasion has been renowned in one from or another by all the major culture of ancient Mesopotamia.what we have today as Noruz with its uniquely Iranian charactristics has been celebrated for at least 3000 years and is deeply rooted in the rituals and traditions of the Zoroastrian belife system in the Sassanid period.
what we have today as Noruze today goes back to the Sassanid period. They formed the last great persian Empire before the advent of Islam.their celebrations started ten days prior to the New year. They believed the guardian angels and spiritsof the dead came down to earth whitin these ten days to visit humans.A major spring-cleaning was carried out to welcome them with feasts and celebrations.Bonfires were made on rooftops at night to indicate the humans were ready to receive the spirits and the angels. This festival was called Suri.
Modern Iranian still carry out the spring-cleaning and celebrate Chahar- shanbeh suri (Wednesday suri).Bonfires are made and all people jump over the fire in the evening of the last Tuesday of the year. This is purification rite and Iranian believe that by jumping over the fire they get rid of all illnesses and misfortunes .now The New year is 13 days.first Families stay at home and wait for the start of the New year -called Sal Tahvil.between the 19th and 21 st of march.another things we have haft Seen it means several items and objects that begin with the letter"S. end of the new year the 13th day people spend mostly outdoor for a festival picnic. It is a must to spend Sizdeh beh dar in nature.Iranians regards 13th day as a bad omen and beleive that by going into the fields they avoid misfortunes.Among the more modern Iranians there is music and dancing .It is also believed that young women can wish for a husband by going into the fields and tying the green shoots in a knots, symbolizing a marital bond.I think , thats enough for you.

Great stuff! Thanks Shirin!
Fantastic.
Thank you so much for sharing. Prior to reading this I did not know anything of these rituals. Rituals, I feel, are very important and help to keep us balanced with nature and with the rest of humanity. 3000 years of understanding certainly have a validity worth listening to.
Think spastically. Act practically.
