INVITATION TO ATTEND KWETU FEST 2008
In 1996 Ndere Troupe organized the formation of Uganda Development Theatre Association (UDTA), which has today become the Cobweb linking the different efforts in the field of development through theatre in Uganda. The Association’s 2084 member groups, under the organization of Ndere Troupe, have since held seven bi-annual festivals in Kampala. The major purpose of the festival is to bring the groups together and provide a forum to compare notes in the fields of cultural performances and entertainment education.
While many methods are used to effect communication, UDTA believes in Entertainment Education as key and most effective strategy because of its unique strengths and advantages.
Today the Uganda Development Theatre Association can clearly point at the results of her impact on the communities in Uganda with great pride, the cultural heritage of the country has been revitalized, entertainment education is now one of the principle means of educating the general masses in Uganda and the individual artists have economically progressed.
This Festival will be based on the theme of Breaking the Silence and Challenging Conformity and is scheduled to take place from 27th –31st of August 2008.
We expect as usual that the festival will attract other participants from the great lakes region (i.e. Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, and Sudan) and the entire world.
The purpose of this letter therefore is;
To invite you to join the festival and celebrate our rich cultural heritage.
The groups from the south to south Countries will be provided with accommodation, feeding, local transport and a visit to the source of River Nile. The groups however have to meet their own cost of international transport.
The Over seas groups and artists will be provided with meals and local transport for the entire festival duration and a trip to the source of River Nile. This category of groups is expected to meet their own cost of international transport and accommodation.
The festival will also through the sister organisation Eco-Com Tours be able to organise for you any other tours you may wish to make across the country.
