World Community Arts Day 17/02/08
"ART AS A CATALYST FOR CARING AND SHARING"
http://www.communiversity.org.uk/worldcommunityartsday.htm
After the initial success of WCAD 2007, it is hoped that you can join
us in 2008 and be creative to raise an important issue you believe in.
All we ask of you or your group on that day is to do an arts project,
however small, or add an image or sound, etc to a website to mark
this day in the build up to it.
LIST OF PARTICIPANTS
1st November 2007 - 17 February 2008
We shall start creating the list of participants on the WCAD website from the 1st November. If you wish to be on this list please contact me.

WCAD 2007
Many contributed in 2007, here are some great examples from last
year, which are on the website. Hopefully this will give a flavour of the range of work and inspire you to take part. Much more can be seen on the WCAD website where all projects are listed.
For the first year and to get things started we started by asking those who are connected with the Craigmillar Festival Society as we know this group of friends is worldwide, in particular to remember a remarkable man Reg Bolton who died in 2006. Of course Community Arts is much bigger than this, but others did come and join the party.

ONCE YOU HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE PART
If possible can you send a weblink, photo so we can put it on the website as soon as possible. If possible put a weblink to The WCAD webpage as well. The bigger the list the better it gets.
The event could just be a gesture, highlight an ongoing event/workshop/artwok or a larger event.
So it could be:
1. Ongoing project you wish to highlight.
2. A website or discussion group
3. A small or large gathering
4. A walk or art performance
5. A Exhibition or art class
6. A Poem
7. A Theatre Performance
8. A Reading
9. A Mural
10. Online projects
11. A lecture
etc.
OUR AIM IS SIMPLE
Our aim is very simple, to show that many people and communities
around the world want to use their creativity and artistic skills to promote caring and sharing.
HISTORY OF COMMUNITY ARTS
Another aim is to raise awareness of how important Community Art is as a Global movement, its history, present day activities and the future.
Here are some examples:
Sparc murals http://www.sparcmurals.org/sparcone/index.php?option=com_content&task=vi...

A lecture by Beth Shadur, USA

ONLY CRITERIA
The only criteria is that the Art "must be a catalyst for social
change and caring". And it would be Art in its widest form and
include all the artforms plus more.
GREEN CIRCLE LOGO
A logo has been produced which is simple and can be developed in many ways. Please use and pass on. A circle is one of the basic shapes in the world. It is a very efficient way of passing on and conserving energy. It is one of the fundamental shapes in the arts and can be applied to many things. There is no top or bottom to it.
