The Babel Masks Presented by the Librarian of Babel
Open call for artists - no fee.
Deadline: September 19, 2020
The Babel Masks scheduled for October 15 2020 - May 1, 2021 is a virtual exhibition directed by Paula Billups, with blind jury selection by guest curators Quintín Rivera Toro and Dermis León. The exhibition includes a print-on-demand catalog. Virtual live events include a midissage on October 30 and a jurors' roundtable on October 15. Accepted artists will also be given a time slot as a featured artist on the exhibition website.
The Babel Masks, presented by the Librarian of Babel collective, seeks artists' submissions of masks from the future. The exhibit imagines that masks are still a part of daily life in 2120, 100 years from now. How will designers and artists evolve the mask? Will they be more sculptural, more stylish, more ceremonial? Each artist may submit one mask. Masks may be of any size, media or material as long as they are wearable and protect the mouth and nose. There is no fee to submit or participate.
