Call to Artists: Fire Station 128 & 132 (Los Angeles)

The Los Angeles County Arts Commission's Civic Art Program is seeking
qualifications from two-dimensional artists, such as painters,
printmakers,graphic artists and photographers, to create original artwork for the interiorsof Fire Station 128 and 132 in Santa Clarita, CA. The new fire stations will provide fire protection and emergency medical services to a growing neighborhood
in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Artwork
Based on their interactions with County Fire Department and the Santa Clarita community, the selected Artists(s) will produce a series of original two-dimensional artwork to be displayed at Fire Stations 128 & 132. The artwork should offer a fresh perspective on themes related to the department, the stations and/or the surrounding community and should resonate with the Fire Station staff and public. The Artwork should evolve through the Artist(s)'s observations of the Fire Department and the surrounding community. As part of the total artwork, the selected Artist(s) will be required to incorporate an
innovative design and installation plan.

Eligibility
This commission is open to professional artists residing in Los Angeles County. Artists residing in or have connections to the City of Santa Clarita are strongly encouraged to apply.

Budget
The budget will be up to $15,000 for each station. This budget includes all artist fees and costs associated with insurance, travel, design, framing, delivery and installation of the Artworks.

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2011.
