Call for Inglewood based artists to participate in Inglewood Open Studios 2011, please see invitation below and share with Inglewood artists. Thank you! MonaLisa Whitaker/Inglewood Cultural Arts
In case you haven't heard: Inglewood Open Studios is artist run event, hosted by Inglewood artists and nonprofit Inglewood Cultural Arts (ICA). The 2 day studio tour takes place over the weekend of November 12 & 13, 2011 and will allow visitors to personally tour the studios of established and emerging artists within the city of Inglewood. In addition to the tour, Inglewood Open Studios also features a group show, which includes work by all participating tour artists that will run from Saturday November 12 to Saturday November 26, at the gallery within the Beacon Arts Building. Inglewood Open Studios artist involvement more than doubled from 17 artists in 2009 to 37 last year and attracted hundreds of visitors. We expect it to grow in number of artists and attendees this year as it has each year in the past.
Participants must be artists (painting, drawing, photography, woodworking, metal, printmaking, ceramics, video, installation, new media, etc.) Non-art professions will not be included in order to stay true to our mission to highlight the art scene in Inglewood. Artists must have a studio within Inglewood city limits to participate.
Since the event is organized and run on a volunteer basis by Inglewood artists we ask that you volunteer to help in some way, even if you can only spare a few hours helping pick up food for the reception or dropping off signs and invites to artists for example. A list of available tasks will be offered as they become available. A committee will be selected to manage tasks such as press & promotion, signage, creating maps, managing our blog, distributing numbers for studios, etc. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please reply to this email.
The fee to participate is $50 which covers press listing costs (including an e-blast with Visual Art Source), materials for signage, printing costs, and other related expenses. Deadline to register is August 30th-extended to October 1st.
Registration is final only with receipt of your fee and at least 1 image of your work. Please reply to this posting by sending an email to (inglewoodculturalarts@yahoo.com) with your intent to participate and make a check or money order payable to: Inglewood Cultural Arts and mail to: 2722 West 77th Street, Inglewood, CA 90305
