VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF CINEMA STUDIES

The Cinema Studies Program at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, beginning fall 2011, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.

The incumbent will teach a total of five courses in the history and theory of cinema and media, with an emphasis on technological practices - particularly sound - in social and cultural context. We would value additional work in pre-cinematic media and technologies and consider as secondary strengths knowledge of non-Western cinemas or experience in a particular art/media practice (production work in sound, for example).
