Hey everyone! Most of the time I'm just Steve, an professional yo-yo performer. (No, seriously.) But my wife and I have gotten really fed up with all the rhetoric and fact-bending that is going on with the US occupation of Iraq, and the impending invasion of Iran. It's just gotten completely out of control, and we've decided to try and do something about it.
So we are launching a flyer/sticker campaign...sort of the antithesis of the yellow ribbons...you know, the ones made in China, and sold for a hefty profit that never filters down to the soldiers or their families? Yeah, those. Our image is stronger, our image actually means something, and our image is free for everyone to distribute as they wish.
Hey everyone!
I'll be performing in the Madfest Juggling Extravaganza in Madison, Wisconsin on January 13th! Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 the day of the show. I'll also have a vending table set up at the festival where you can buy Steve Brown t-shirts, and random yo-yo stuff from my Attic Of Doom!
Please come check it out!
In other news, my new website is (i swear!) almost done! Should be launched within the next week. So please continue to check Steve Brown Is My Hero Dot Com so that you can see the goodness as soon as it launches!
Got video of a couple of my routines up...would love feedback!
Thanx,
S
Dark Kabaret (www.DarkKabaret.com)-A One-Night Stand of Vaudeville and Burlesque Wonder at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.
San Francisco, CA. October 2, 2006 – Dark Kabaret will be presented at the Great American Music Hall on November 18, 2006. The illustrious and musical Dark Kabaret, blends feverish vaudeville with the vibrancy of a modern song-and-dance. It is the setting of magic, mystery and romance, echoing the frenzied bitter-sweetness of a time that was much sexier and addictive than our own, striving to surge people into a frantic gaiety. This show is not the calm before the storm; it is the storm itself in all its majestic and intense beauty.
So, I recently quit my stressful, lame, and low-paying day job (which offered a steady paycheck but nothing else of merit) and went back to performing full-time.
It's been a while since I made a jump like that. I had plenty of support from my friends, colleagues, and my lovely wife. Didn't make it any less scary.
So here I am now. I'm getting gigs that pay really well, but they aren't coming in anywhere near as regularly as I need them to be. I know it's only a matter of time, and that it's going to be a little while before things pick up. I haven't exactly been out in the marketplace for a while, and I need to get my name circulating again.
