The 100-voice Angeles Chorale is a volunteer organization of auditioned, professional-level choral singers rehearsing and performing in the Los Angeles area. The Angeles Chorale's mission is to perform world-class music to enrich our diverse community.

The Angeles Chorale is seeking a publicist who:
- has experience working with non-profit classical music groups
- has established a network of contacts in the print media and online

The publicist will be working with the Chorale Board over the course of the next year to promote awareness of our scheduled season concerts and to increase ticket sales through greater marketing and PR coverage.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop communications strategies for marketing, publicity and social media
- Prepare media releases and media kits as well as organize photo opportunities and interviews
- Cultivate and maintain ongoing contact with music critics and local media to provide accurate and timely information on the Angeles Chorale
- Workload may vary from week to week and concert to concert

Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Experience writing copy and participating in and organizing call and email campaigns to drive interest and ticket sales
- Experience in media relations in the performing arts preferred
- Knowledge of Los Angeles, Pasadena, and San Fernando Valley media preferred
- Enjoys collaborating with others
- Manages projects and deadlines with little supervision
- Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, social networking platforms including Facebook, Twitter, WordPress and Google Analytics.

Remuneration: Part-time salary, to be discussed. Funding comes from a matching grant from the LA County Arts Commission.

Bio:
The Chorale has performed with many local orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Glendale Symphony, Long Beach Symphony and Pasadena Symphony. Recently, the Chorale appeared with the American Youth Symphony in a concert of music by film and TV composer and Academy Award winner Jerry Goldsmith, conducted by Academy Award nominee David Newman.

The Chorale's 37th Concert Season, 2011-2012, titled "Stories in Song," marks the second season with our new Artistic Director, Dr. John Sutton. The season began with Remembrance: 9.11 on September 11, 2011 at Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in Los Angeles, presented free of charge for all who wished to remember the day. The regular season continues with Messiah on December 10, 2011, conducted by Donald Neuen. On March 23, 2012, the program will feature The American Experience: Spirituals, Gospels and Jazz for an evening of American music. On June 9, 2012, the Angeles Chorale will present Stories of Our Lives, featuring the West Coast premiere of a new work dedicated to those who suffer from Alzheimer's Disease. For this season, all concerts will be in Pasadena, CA.
