QUALITY COLLECTIVE, THE ROOTS AND WINGS PROJECT, and THE LAST BOOKSTORE PRESENT

"A RECORD OF LIGHT" - A WORLD PREMIERE, SITE-SPECIFIC PLAY
________________________________________

... "You don't come out of this life alive…
to know your life's purpose is to dare to go where it leads."

Producer Peter Woods (Quality Collective) and Playwright Jesse Bliss (The Roots
and Wings Project) unite forces for the first ever, full-length play production
to run at The Last Bookstore. The 10,000 sq. ft. former bank-turned-venue hosts
not only literature and records, but live music and cultural events.

The Last Bookstore will be electrified with A RECORD OF LIGHT, a play written
specifically for the venue with live original musical accompaniment by "Pitch
Like Masses". Each show will open with a performance by a powerful solo artist.
Runs from October 29 through November20 2011, Saturdays and Sundays at 8 pm.

A RECORD OF LIGHT is about the complete sacred knowledge of all human experience
being housed, in secret, in a downtown Los Angeles bookstore. Orelia Key, a
woman whose spirit moves faster than her body can handle, is determined to
access it. On this mission, she encounters denizens of the bookstore - analog
people - who in a world of technology, discover the link between body and the
substance of the soul.

About the Producer:

Peter Woods, an L.A. native, is the Events Coordinator for The Last Bookstore
and heads the grassroots organization Quality Collective. QC is a virtual
history book of independent and underground art and music. Hardly a week has
gone by in the past ten years that Los Angeles has gone without a Quality
Collective sponsored event. They are modern day culture hunters providing free
art and music to the masses.

About the Writer/Director:

Jesse Bliss, Founder and Artistic Director of The Roots and Wings Project, is an
actress, playwright, director, poet and MC whose work is performed and produced
around the world. Jesse is an Arts Education veteran, with extensive experience
writing curriculum and teaching Theater and Creative

Writing to underserved and incarcerated youth. Jesse's writings for the stage
include Diamonds, performed at UCLA in collaboration with dance legend Rennie
Harris; Roots and Wings, The Play, performed in New York and San Francisco;
Between Fingertips performed at Central Juvenile Hall and CASA 0101, stage
readings and excerpt performances of the site-specific play Tree of Fire at
Lincoln Heights Jail, Theatre of Note, and S.P.A.R.C. at the Old Jail in Venice
and performance appearances at the United Nations on International Women's Day
and the Edinburgh Festival.

The Roots and Wings Project is a politically charged, socially transformative
theatre company that brings attention to truth and gives voice to the unnamed,
unspoken and misunderstood through theatrical innovation and multi-media
collaboration.
