The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is seeking a Director of its Civic Art Program. This program, which allocates 1% of county capital projects for public art, began in 2005. This position has overall responsibility for planning, developing, and implementing what is becoming one of the largest public art programs in the country, with close to 50 projects, ranging in size from $10,000 to $1 million, in various stages of development. The Director of Civic Art must develop and articulate a broad vision for the Civic Art Program that includes conversation and education, and motivate others to embrace that vision.

The Printshop's classes for adults offer instruction in myriad printmaking techniques, traditional, as well as new and experimental.
Our faculty is comprised of accomplished artists and experienced master printers with outstanding expertise in printmaking. They offer technical expertise, as well as creative advice for your new artwork. Our instructors will help you turn your ideas into quality prints.
Our classes are appropriate for beginners who wish to discover the world of printmaking, as well as artists interested in exploring new techniques. Many of our courses can be repeated, as there is a great deal of one-on-one interaction with faculty.

TRANSART INSTITUTE seeks to attract independent, inquisitive and imaginative
artists to fill the remaining spaces on its low-residency MFA program. In a
uniquely international setting, Transart offers an accredited two year
course for working artists, teachers and all professionals in related fields
who are seeking advancement in visual arts and new media. The program
consists of three intensive summer residencies in Europe filled with
lectures, workshops, critiques, seminars, performances and exhibitions and
two shorter winter residencies in New York City. In the four semesters
Son of Semele Ensemble is seeking applications for guest productions
through their SOSEhost program.

SOSEhost is our curated rental program that offers subsidized space,
equipment and staffing to other progressive theater artists.
Academics, journalists, writers and artists will gather in São Paulo, Brazil at the third International Congress on Cultural Journalism on May 17 to 20 in Sao Paulo.
Organized by the Social Service of Commerce, SESC, the event's goal is to reflect on the current state of culture journalism across various media platforms.
The program features international experts such as critical theorists Camille Paglia and Slavoj Zizek, film director Werner Herzog and novelist Enrique Vila-Matas.
Topics include artistic genres and journalism, press responsibility, the role of TV in culture, cultural journalism training and the importance of digital media, among others.
Registration costs between R$100 and R$400 (about US$65 and US$255) and can be done online at the SESC site.
