Phileas is a philanthropic organisation based in Vienna, Austria, that enables ambitious projects within the field of contemporary art. Its activities focus primarily on international exhibitions by Austrian and Austrian-based artists.

Phileas co-produces new works and their presentation in museum exhibitions and Biennials, as well as accompanying publications and symposia. Where possible, it goes on to acquire those same works for public collections.

The 5th Lih Pao International Sculpture Biennial Awards officially starts on April 15.

The Event Horizon Telescope published the very first photo of a black hole, which is 55 million light-years away from human beings. Philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau said “The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless.” If the black hole represents the infinite quality of the universe, then we see the creation of art as the practice and development of infinity.

Call for women artists over 40, Covid-19 NYFA relief grant, deadline April 8

NYFA has partnered with Anonymous Was A Woman (AWAW) to launch an emergency relief grant program to support women-identifying visual artists over 40 who have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

The program will distribute $250,000 in cash grants, up to $2,500 per-artist, to artists who have experienced financial hardship from loss of income or opportunity as a direct result of the crisis. As with AWAW’s annual award, the program is open to women-identifying visual artists over the age of 40 in the United States and territories, and aims to address the unique challenges faced by artists in middle age or older, particularly at this critical time.

The Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (ETAT) will launch an open call for proposals for its eighth edition to be held in summer 2021.

Inaugurated in 2000, ETAT takes place every three years in the Echigo-Tsumari region (Tokamachi City and Tsunan Town) of Niigata Prefecture, which is known for its heavy snowfall and distinctive satoyama agricultural landscape. Covering 760 square kilometers, the Triennale is the world's largest international art festival. It is not organized in urban settings but in rural areas, and is recognized as pioneer in regional revitalization with art.
