The Institute for Creative Arts (ICA) invites proposals for productions to be presented at the Infecting the City Public Art Festival 2023, taking place between 8-19 November 2023.

The longest-running public art festival in South Africa, Infecting the City (ITC) brings performance and visual art out of theatres and galleries, into the streets and public spaces of Cape Town. ITC reimagines public space as stages, showcasing an array of art forms, and creating a platform for artworks relevant to the people that populate these spaces. Going beyond light entertainment, the festival challenges audiences and transgresses aesthetic and disciplinary boundaries while also shifting perspectives.

In honor of art historian and curator Werner Fenz (1944–2016), and on the initiative of more than two hundred artists, curators, critics, and other members of the art world, the City of Graz’s cultural affairs department launched a grant for art in public space in 2020.

Starting in 2023, this biennial grant will be awarded jointly by the festival for contemporary art steirischer herbst and the City of Graz. It targets national and international projects that address the cultural and political context of Graz, Austria.

Open call for artists: Liquid Interfaces at Gothenburg University

The Public Art Agency Sweden has released an open call for artists to develop a semipermanent digital project. The art programme Liquid Interfaces: Open/Closed Gateways is related to the renovation and construction of Gothenburg University’s Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts in Gothenburg.

The underlying idea is that colocation of different artistic educations in the same building will strengthen collaboration between the faculty’s departments and facilitate new fusions, artistic expressions, and social interactions. Moreover, this venue has the ambition to become a central public space in Gothenburg, where anyone can meet to exchange knowledge and experience art.
