REDCAT is accepting proposals for original performance works to be presented in the 13th Annual New Original Works (NOW) Festival, which is designed to support the development and presentation of contemporary performance in the Southern California region. The three-week interdisciplinary program of dance, theater, music, and multi-disciplinary works will take place at REDCAT in late July and early August 2016. The festival features a flexible schedule to accommodate shared programs of short works and occasionally some longer projects. REDCAT provides development support through technical assistance, access to the theater with its sound and lighting inventory, and an honorarium.

Frank Moore’s Shaman’s Den streamed live on the internet almost every Sunday night from 1998 until Frank’s death in 2013. The Shaman’s Den was a 2 1/2-hour variety show featuring in-studio concerts by bands from around the world and in-depth conversations about politics, art, music, and life.

THE BLANK THEATRE, LEAD PRODUCER Job Opening

POSITION: Lead Producer will work closely with the Artistic Director and will be responsible for the overall management of all Productions and The Blank’s Annual Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival. The Producer will also support the running of The Blank’s new play development program, The Living Room Series, with the Artistic Committee and LRS Associate Producer. Tabakalera - International Centre for Contemporary Culture's key features is its transversal nature, acting as a crossroads where different disciplines can coexist. Tabakalera aims to inspire reflection on contemporary issues via a programme of seminars, workshops, screenings, exhibitions and publications. It creates a critical community by supporting creation, knowledge and exhibition programmes that are aimed at both a specialist audience and the general public.

The Keyholder Residency Program offers emerging artists free 24-hour access to printmaking facilities to develop new work and foster their artistic careers. Residencies are free and one year long, starting on April 1st and October 1st each year, and they take place in the shared Artists’ Studio, including the solvent/etching area and the darkroom. Keyholders work independently, in a productive atmosphere alongside other contemporary artists. Artists from all disciplines are eligible to apply; print-making skills are not required, but some familiarity with the medium is recommended. Basic instruction in printmaking techniques is available for new Keyholders. Technical assistance is not included in the program, but is available at additional cost. Participation is competitive.

Intro to Screenprinting

Fee: $425
Explore the wide range of techniques in this versatile medium. Screenprinting allows you to easily print hand-drawn, photographic, and digital images on paper, fabric, and other surfaces in a variety of colors. You will create stencils and learn to use a vacuum press and exposure unit to develop screens. Topics will include screen preparation, color separation for multi-screen prints, correct color mixing, registration, screen monoprinting, editioning, and basic methods of printing onto t-shirts and other objects. Artists should bring ideas and/or images to the first session.

The Franklin Furnace Fund awards grants annually to emerging artists to enable them to produce major performance art works in New York. Grants range between $2,000 and $10,000 based on the peer review panel allocation of funding received by Franklin Furnace.

Franklin Furnace has no curator; each year a new panel of artists reviews all proposals. We believe this peer panel system allows all kinds of artists from all over the world an equal shot at presenting their work. Every year the panel changes, as do the definitions of “emerging artist" and "performance art." So if at first you don't succeed, please try again.
